Don't go to crappy flash websites.
I suffer this problem, Anandtech.com suffers this problem (they used the front page of Fileplanet as part of their test on dual core CPU's because it's flash heavy, and flash is demanding on the CPU).
One thing you could do is: Download
Firefox (if you don't already use it), and

https://addons.update.mozilla.org/exten...egory=Web%20Annoyances&numpg=10&id=433">this</a> handy little extension which replaces any Flash on a website with a little button to click which will then enable that specific bit of flash on the page.
But, when I used one, if you had a menu made of flash, you had to enable all the different buttons of the menu on some pages (it depends how the flash is done on a page), so it can be a bit of a hassle.
