Floppy Drive not reading disks.

I bought this drive a couple months ago when I was building my computer, so it's fairly new. The OS detects it so I doubt there are any connection problems. However, whenever I insert a floppy disk into the drive and click on it, a little window pops up saying "please insert disk." Anyone know any reasons why this would be happening? Am I going to have to buy a new floppy drive, or is there some way for me to fix this? Thanks.

does the light on the front of the drive do anything?

just cuz its in windows doesnt mean its hooked up right, you might double check.

can you try setting it to boot off the floppy before the hard drive and see if a boot disk works?

if the floppy light is consistently on, that means you have the floppy cable running from the mobo plugged in upside down. Your mobo or windows will not detect this problem.. the floppy drive just won't work. try plugging it in the other way. See if it helps

Well it used to work. I had to use it to install windows 2000 using floppies. It just recently stopped reading disks.

Is it a mitsumi floppy and an Epox 8K7a motherboard?
