Rice: Not tough to cook, eh?

Hmm, maybe I'll have to look for some bland rice recipes to try out.
What simple (cheap, store-bought) sauces are generally good to go with rice?

Rice is often coupled with stronger tasting things, it tends to mellow them out a little, even acting as a filler of sorts.

If you're looking for something easy and not weird or hot, heck, try some rice-a-roni. You'll get rice and pasta in one shot. I'll guess chicken flavor is probably safest.

IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, YOU DON'T HAVE TO EAT IT AGAIN!

Do you have any desire to try different foods?

Rice-a-roni's sodium content: :Q

And it's got garlic.

Seems like it might have a taste somewhat similar to Ramen noodles though, which would be ok with me.

How might I go about making something similar, but without the cubic yard of salt?
Beef stock? (Though admittedly, I don't know what's in that component.)

It's convenience food. I was going to say watch out for it being not particularly healthy...

That's what you think

Holy hell, someone who knows the area in which I reside. This is unheard of.

You don't think other foods could taste better? When growing up, your parents fed you the same diet?

And no offense, you don't have a very healthy diet.

My mom always liked to add all kinds of different spices and flavorings to everything she made. She also liked to bring home various foods from around the world
Everyone else liked what she provided or made; I thought most of it tasted godawful. Hell, I can't even eat a cherry tomato without gagging - I tried it once,
and I couldn't even finish just the one before feeling the stomach acid trying to work its way back up my esophagus.

It wasn't until maybe age 15-16 when the constant battles over "Just eat it, it's good" ceased, when she finally perhaps realized that I really don't like the taste of damn near everything in existence.
IIRC for french toast, my mom made it by beating eggs like you were going to make scrambled eggs, then dipping the bread slices into the mixture, then frying the bread. I know she used cinnamon as well, and maybe sugar. Serve with powered sugar on the top.

Well, living in large diverse city makes it easy to taste everything and I think I've tried every major food-region by now. Major ones like Italian, middle-eastern, Japanese, Indian and Chinese are a regular part of my diet, with the minor ones like Jamaican, Thai, Greek etc making a once-a-week appearance and the more obscure ones like Ethiopian or Moroccan being rare.

Anyway, you are missing a lot, so I suggest you start going out of your way to try everything you can.

I never said I had a healthy diet, but then again, no one is perfect when it comes to their food choices.

That's how mine are. Tasty if done right.

Sounds simple enough.
About how much egg to how much bread?

I'm also wondering about a slight variation on the chicken and rice theme - I've got a food processor, and dammit I want to use it again:

Rice with some finely-diced/nearly-pureed chicken mixed in. Perhaps with some sort of chicken gravy as well.

I've never had soup either. <shrug>

Scrambled/fried/etc eggs, too.

EDIT: Melons and citrus fruits, too. And cheesecake.

French toast is NOT a fancy dish. Just break out some eggs and toast (slightly stale, please) and throw them into a frying pan.

EDIT: What I mean is that you should experiment to find out how you like yours done.

Me experimenting with food often results in food getting thrown out. I'm lucky if things just turn out right if I have an exact recipe.
About three weeks ago, I threw out a triple batch of banana bread. I forgot to mix the dry ingredients first, and the loaves also got burned on the outside. The insides tasted salty, and had pockets of baking soda here and there. The things were just gross, and so they all got pitched out. Sucks to waste that much food; there were something like 5 cups of flour and 6 eggs in there, among other things. So given that I can screw up things even when I have a list of instructions, I don't like the idea of "experimenting" with anything food related; things tend to go wrong.

Hell, I only learned how to make scrambled eggs about a year ago, and I burned the first two attempts.

Man, I don't want to call you stupid, so let me just tell you this: there is a science to this, and most people understand this science intuitively. If you don't, watch a couple of cooking shows, or do some research online to see why you're screwing up.
