Hey, ask me your dental questions. 1 year away from my DDS.

I got a question for you. Why do dentist have to use sharp metal pointy thingys? Anytime I've been to a dentist my teeth hurt for a few days afterwards because of they way they use those damn tools and such. Do they really have to scrap those metal thingys to get the tarter off, can't they use another method like high pressure water or something.

Well the metal things such as explorers or cavitron tips help to detect if there is caries or calculus. It's sharp so that i can clean the area. If your teeth hurt after a few days after a cleaning or filling, you got problems. High pressure water? Cavitrons use that.

Whats caries or calculus? What type problems? whats a cavitron?

I can't get into flossing, I can't. People who smoke say you don't know how hard it is to stop smoking. Yes I do. It's as hard as it is to start flossing. You seem jittery. Yeah, I'm about to floss.

RIP mitch

I floss every day. I also quit smoking.

Buncha pussies. (Gonna be toothless pussies, too)

caries = decay/cavities

calculus = tarter

cavitron = dental tool that uses high frequency sound waves to clean teeth.

You may be a gooder speller, but I talk gooder english than you!

I know that because I've read up on dentistry. I was scammed by a dentist a few years ago and they did couple grand in unnecessary stuff.

I found out because I moved before she could do it all. I still had a couple grand to go. When I saw my new dentist, he said I didn't need anything done.

Chew lots of ice, bend fish hooks, break fishing line with your teeth..keeps them strong.

J/K seriously I often do the exact opposite of what dentists advise and have straight white stong teeth. I think they want to fill them just to fusk them up. buyer beware.

Get your x-rays from you last dentist. You have a lawful right to them. Then compare them to the recent ones, which you also have a right to. I doubt you have 14...if any at all. There's a term in the industry referred to as "drill and fill". Thats how a dirty dentist will make money from a perfectly healthy set of teeth. They drill a hole where a cavity doesn't exist, then fill it. No way to prove whether a cavity was really there or not because that part of the tooth that the dentist claimed had a cavity is now gone and filled. It's very easy to use a pencil/pen and put pin spots on x-rays to create the appearance of cavities. Big cavities are a little harder to fake on an x-ray but I'm sure the best (or worst) of them know how to do it.

Bottom line...yes, definitely get a 2nd opinion before letting the good doctor go to town on your pearly whites.
