Seriously... just ridiculous prices. $299 for the RCS200 / Bigfoot? I can't even talk about it.

I keep trying to imagine some situation where I need two of these... anyone ever go dual centers? 8.2 baby!

I was checking out their site and even with those sales the prices seem a little high to me. All the drivers they use can be purchased, a crossover easily be bought/made, and a box built to specification for much much cheaper... But I guess its nice to pay that 100-200% mark up just so you dont have to do it. When it comes to Home or Car audio the best system you can get is a DIYer IMO.

awesome deals. I've owned speakers range from the cheap Polk R series to Vienna Acoustic. This is simply the BEST deal in speakers. On top of that, they have great customer service. Don't fall for the Swan deals, the Rockets are upgraded with thicker MDF, much better tweeter, internal network and better veneer. They look similar though (same manufacturer, different designer and different leagues).

Really? I'd go out on a stretch here and figure the veneer and application is more expensive than you are guessing it is.

How much is your time worth?

Yeah at those price, I doubt he can DIY better. The tweeters along cost $100+. High grade air core inductors, poly caps. One inch thick Tear drop shaped cabinetry with flawless rosewood veneer. Piano black end caps. I upgraded the only the stock caps with sonicaps and that costs nearly $100.

The woofers are custom built to the designer's specification from HiVi, so you probaly can't even buy them. The crossover network is done by Danny Ritchie so I doubt you can measure the drivers any better with your own equipment.

thats the funny thing is that everyone is different with what sounds best. You can have great speakers in there but still not like the sound. Some people like corssovers to overlap, some like warmer sounds, punchier bass, etc etc... Trust me, you cant build a system that will satisfy everyone. But again this is based on alot of DIY work both with home and car audio. So thats why I said IMO you can always build system yourself that will sound better almost 90% of the time. The actual time it takes to do this is minimal, only takes a little bit of research and a couple hours of build time.

You wouldn't know if you never tried. Right? These speakers are not just about sound either.

Your idea of DIY is too simple. If you are after a sound that only suits your tastes, you need to measure, test and experiment with several values in the crossover design. The cabinet construction will take you at least half a day in your garage even if you are skilled. Let a long the dry time and veneer/paint work. Remember, unless you use someone else's design, you need to measure and test. That along will take you a weekend. When you use someone else's design, you don't know that it suits your taste. Even some of the most recognizable DIYers take months for a single project.

Simply, a "couple hours" of built time is only a imagination. You are assuming DIY is ALWAYS better. Yes, absolutely. Until the pre-made speakers bottom to a certain price point. This is one of those.
