You could have done a hard reset and reconfigured the router in the same amount of time it took you to type out this post and get a legit response.

In this case, it would be a program that would just try password after password, in some kind of sequence, until it has tried every possible combination of either ASCII or Unicode characters. It would help considerably if you could wait several decades for it to do so. There's a reason brute force doesn't always work.
A common thwart for brute force attacks is for a device to lock itself out for a few minutes after a certain number of tries. That way, a brute force attack would probably require thousands of years to do its thing.

mmmm...

I feel goosemaster, I have the same router, its a dream.

I've had very mixed results with Linksys routers ... they work great when they work but for whatever reason 5 or 6 have just failed on me for no apparent reason.

And resetting the router was by far the easiest solution to the OP's problem.

I guess I've just been lucky. sure I've bricked some, but otherwise they have been flawless. add to that the majesty of dd-wrt and you have a win win.

these days the wrt54gl is the one that is easy to flash so it remains high but consistently-priced @ ~$60

I got a 54g a couple weeks ago and it took a total of two minutes to flash. The 54gl is easier than that? If so I'm very impressed. All I did was tftp the new bootloader, flash, and that was about it.

I know.. I did like 6 of them:evil:

I'll admit it isn't completely bulletproof but it kicks ass since I manage it correctly.

Nonono! That would break it.

The correct way to fix it is to put it in a bathtub full of water with it still plugged into the wall and desktop. Then try to log in again.

Bubble search for a password? Oh wait, that was bubble sort, nm.
