I'm all for quiet.I don't want to hear my vacuum cleaner while I'm playing online games or surfing the net or watching TV.
On the other hand I'm all for efficient cooling too.
Finding the correct combination and compromising seems the be an art form that many computer enthusiasts, including myself, are persuing.
Of course if you're an extreme overclocker, qieting a system is probably not high on your agenda.
Vice versa for those seeking the ultimate silent PC,overclocking is the devil since system/component cooling would be compromised.
There are several decent solutions available as far case,HSF,fan,PSU combinations go.
You are however reduced to only a few selections if you want an aesthetically appearing case(opinions vary just like fart odors) and want decent cooling and silence with a small margin for overclockability also.
It all boils down to your personal priorities.
1.Appearance
2.Cooling
3.Sound
4.Function
5.Expandibility
6.Layout
7.Size
8.Construction/Materials
9.Internal goodies i.e. removable drive cages,sliders,grommets,removables,filters etc
10.External goodies i.e. front ports,lids,doors,lighting,windows etc.
I have yet to see a perfect case out there that fits eceryones needs/desires.I question wether it's even possible.Given the vast array of cases offered these days I can say that many different peoples' priorities are being addressed by the case manufacturers who are definately profiting.Wich means that all these priorities are valid although some might find anothers priorities for case choosing nonsense.
My personal priorites fall with function over form, but that's my personal opinion based upon the price paid for my components and personal budget.Form falls down the list for me because I view a computer case as a functional object and not as a fashion show exhibit. It sits under my desk unseen. My preferences are for it to be unheard, efficient, functional.
