Formula BOINC-2018 version

XANSONS for COD is currently issuing both multi-threaded CPU and some GPU tasks. This is a Formula BOINC project, it is in it's final days, so it may be the last chance to get credit in it (FB points will be 'locked-in' when the project closes, so potentially if we score well, we can forget about it for the rest of the year).

My laptop always gets "Computational Error" from Xansons. I guess its estimated time is longer than the return deadline (only 3 days, really?).

Anybody doing CPDN? Since when did it run out of tasks?

Both the CPU and GPU tasks should not take more than a few minutes each, usually just seconds, actually. But, the pay (in points) is good (but variable). The worst is 1.5 point per second, but some are way way way up there, 750-some points for 23 seconds I think, of GPU.

It showed more than 1 day estimated runtime before saying "computational error". I had same problem with this one. I'll try to use some suggestions from there and I'll report the progress here.

Ah yes, same as with project Collatz, you need to install the Visual C++ Redistributable 2013.

Right, Tony. I installed wrong VCredist. I used 2012 version instead of 2013 one. I blame my bleary eyes . It runs smoothly now.

It's a nice thought, but I thought the admin left it as having a potential new batch every other week or so.

Yes, the main work is finished, only sends 'clean-up' work a few times per month at best, which makes it all the more critical to have some points (currently 10 points for the TeAm ) before it goes away for good.

Wow, Xansons' tasks are unsteadily available. Even if it's there, mine could only get less than 50 tasks to get a useful pts. I'll redirect my resource toward CPDN as it's sending new tasks again (yay!). Here we go, 14 days-long tasks.

Why? may I ask is Grid Coin included in FB? Just out of curiosity, do they actually have forums and pay attention to anything BUT coin?

Last year a Gridcoin member was blogging about Formula Boinc sprints. I.e. a handful of their members probably ran the sprints (if the respective project was whitelisted by Gridcoin). They remained invisible in Gridcoin's credits timeline, of course.

Really hope that FB organiser consider about separating profit and non-profit community on the leaderboard. I think it will be bad in the long run if they keep us mixed. There's no chance for non-profit community to fight with them and at some point people may lose the motivation to keep going.

Well, the competitive side of me just doesn't want to let it as it is. FB organiser could simply put a simple mark to each team. I'm used to watch Le Mans 24 and each entry that officially supported by manufacturer will be marked as "Pro" and any privately-owned team will be marked as "Am (amateur)". This way, even if they compete on same track, amateur teams won't be obliterated by manufacturer team because they have separate points classification (best in class if you like).

But, yeah, ever since I did DC, I didn't even know what FB was. In the end, I still run DC for the TeAm whatever happens to the FB leaderboard because tbh, there's a bit love involved here.

Guys, could you access seti@home webpage? I also can't request new seti tasks because the log says "Project server is temporarily down." But it's still Monday and their maintenance schedule is on Tuesday, right?

I can access the web page and the boinc scheduler at this moment. (I tested only by asking for work from a CPU-only client while having only GPU work allowed at the web prefs.)

This year, the Anguillan Pirates and LITOMYSL Boinc Team Czech Republic were added to league 3. The Pirates are #1 of their league by a large margin now. I wonder if they are harboring the same thought that [H] had last year: To outscore Gridcoin...

I tested just now and received a blc02_2bit_guppi_* task for NVidia GPU (cuda60). Don't have an AMD GPU available for now.

Correct their splitters were upgraded during the last maintenance window and something didn't happen correctly. They were reporting full output but instead were producing nothing
