To be honest, you'll probably have to tell me what that is and how to check that as i'm not sure what that is (been meaning to check it out though).

Cheex two quick questions:

1) Does this board run hot when not oc ?

2) Are you happy with it?

1) The board still runs relatively cool even when i do overclock. Stock speeds, it is totally fine.

2) Yes, I'm very happy with it so far (would be happier if i could sort out my hard drive detection problem but i'm not sure what is really causing that).

With regards ot the hard drives: try email foxconn support. I tried a couple of questions on them and they were fairly responsive.

btw do you have any pci cards? If so do they work in the board ?

I don't have any PCI cards but I should think that they are fine...
My graphics card runs great so far though.

I might try emailing them later today if i can't get any help here. AnandTech is great.

Go to Start -> programs -> accessories -> system tools -> system information

pick hardware resources and IRQ's

IRQ 0-IRQ 23 are all 'OK'.
How do I know if there is any sharing?

any of them have the same number ?

you can also click on conflict / sharing instead of IRQ that will give you a list of any that are shared

I not sure if i'm reading this correctly but it seems that the following IRQ's are being shared:

IRQ 16
IRQ 17
IRQ 18
IRQ 19
IRQ 23

if you have time could you write down what devices are using irq 16-19 and 23

what most of inserest are the graphics card, onboard sound and lan

Here you go:

IRQ 16 Intel(R) P965/G965 PCI Express Root Port - 29A1
IRQ 16 RADEON X850 XT
IRQ 16 Intel(R) ICH8 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 2834
IRQ 16 Intel(R) ICH8 Family PCI Express Root Port 1 - 283F
IRQ 16 Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller

IRQ 17 Intel(R) ICH8 Family PCI Express Root Port 2 - 2841
IRQ 17 Generic Marvell Yukon Chipset based Ethernet Controller

IRQ 18 Intel(R) ICH8 Family USB2 Enhanced Host Controller - 283A
IRQ 18 Intel(R) ICH8 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 2832

IRQ 19 Intel(R) ICH8 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 2831
IRQ 19 Intel(R) ICH8 4 port Serial ATA Storage Controller - 2820
IRQ 19 Intel(R) ICH8 2 port Serial ATA Storage Controller - 2825

IRQ 23 Intel(R) ICH8 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 2830
IRQ 23 Intel(R) ICH8 Family USB2 Enhanced Host Controller - 2836

Question:
Why is all this so important?

some would say it isnt important at all
"in theory" everything on your machine should be able to use the same IRQ

in my experience IRQ sharing between graphics, sound and network devices causes system problems

your motherboard look ok in terms of irq sharing

thanks for the info

A: Many devices do not like sharing IRQs. Sound and video cards, for example, should NEVER be sharing the same IRQ.

Hard drive detection issue? Please specify. What brand of HDD and what controller is it hooked up to? Thanks.

This is not a wall per se but i can't seem to boot above 240 FSB without those detection issues.

This mobo supports C2D so 266 shouldn't be a problem. I am just wondering now what could it be why I can't go higher.
Above 240 the detection is hit and miss.

I've booted in Windows at 266 (3.73GHz), and it was exciting but after the shutdown, I had to clear the CMOS.
So now i'm back at 240.

What could be wrong?

Nothing is "wrong" per se. Components are not guaranteed to OC. You simply found the limitations of your hardware. I am less concerned now that you have clarified that the issue is OCing related as I do not OC and will be using a E6700 with this board. Thanks.

It is due to my overclocking. I have no problems with the board. Its runs great and is rock solid. So far it has been good. I've seen improved framerates in games, faster performance at the desktop with my programs. Overall, I'm loving it. Its just that i wish i could figure out this overclocking problem so i can take my cpu higher.

Cheex: Did you use a 20 to 24 converter (or a) 4 to 8 converter or did your psu have a 24/8 plug ?

My PSU has a 20+4 pin main plug and a rail with the option of 4 or 8 pin.

Its this thing you use to convert a 20 plug connection into a 24 plug or 4 plug into an 8 plug.

No. How can i check that? Is that to be found somewhere in the manual, on the board itself or do i use a diagnostic tool (everest, etc)??

Well - it might be in the manual. I'm pretty sure they are 2.3 The actual qustion is have you used older pci cards and if so did they work with the board? If you don't use pci cards - don't worry about it.

btw the converter thing i mentioned earlier is for folks with older psu. I ahve a 4 year old psu that predates teh changes in plugs. I thas the old 20/4 plugs.
