AUS (Austin) and BFL (Bakersfield) has fast, no-hassle, ad-free wireless

though like said above, i dont see a reason WHY it should be free. one is not going to base their flying on free wi-fi availability.. real good way to ensure lots of revenue

Vegas and Sac had this. It pissed me off because I was at SFO for a good hour, and I will be again in a few weeks and I will be wifi-less. Ghey.

when I was at Denver airport, it was all ATT stuff and if you have an ATT username and pass to get on the internet lucky I did.

the same reason Disney World charges $17 for a Coke and movie theater popcorn costs $48 - because they have you trapped

Most of the lounges have free wifi, if you are a member. A lot of airports have sponsored free wifi by the local providers, sometimes by banks, credit cards, ETC... I've yet been to an airport without a wifi connection, free or otherwise (mostly free).

They don't charge that much for either of those.

Houston Hobby has free wifi but I've only managed to get it to work ~1/3 of the times I've been waiting there (i fly out of Hobby a lot).

It's either too many connections or not enough routers for good signal coverage.

I don't even try anymore, as long as I have a book to read.

people want to take take take, most can't even be bothered to come on ATOT without blocking the ad's. Free isn't even enough! they need free without any types of ads what-so-ever. And the FREE airport WiFi better be really fast too!

people are greedy as fuck and think they're entitled to everything free of charge simply because it's something they want.

I disagree completely. This has nothing to do with a sense of entitlement. If they want to charge for Internet access then fine, I have no problems with that, it's a service. But I think of free wireless as a perk of the airport. It's ok to give things out for free under the guise of good customer service.

I travel quite a bit and it is rare that you can find a FREE Wifi Connection in an airport that is not a lounge.

ALso most of the "expensive hotels" give loyalty customers free wifi. I do not pay for Wifi at any hilton family hotel, and have not for as long as I can remember.

What burns me (If I am going to be in the airport for more than an hour and a half I will spend the 8-15 bucks) is that there are literally dozens of different wifi companies so even joining a monthly plan is no good. About 3 month ago they got us blackberrys so now I can do my email on the phone and do not need to break out the laptop to check email.

To all claiming it should be free, remember if they gave it for free then everyone would use it and it would cost more to provide the same level of service. Why should my grandmother have to pay increased fees on her ticket so that you can have a better layover experence.

Should all airlines be forced to provide first class seats for coach super saver facres to everyone?

I am all for companies charging for services that some use and others do not.

Really? Didn't know that. The next time I fly out of there I'll have to take advantage of that.

I know that it can't be AT&T... their 3G coverage is spotty at best once you get ten miles away from a major city.

I do agree with you, but let's tone it down a bit. I'm assuming that after paying many hundreds of dollars for a plane tickets, people feel entitled SOMETHING free. Hell, the airlines are cutting out complimentary drinks and the like on a lot of flights. Despite this, I think that having an ad or two on your screen is a fair price to pay for free internet. If you don't like that, then either don't use the internet, or pay so you can have it fast and ad-free.

When I'm with my parents I get pretty darn good 3G coverage actually. This about 30-35 miles away from a major city (Philadelphia) by the way. The area is fairly rural too.
