I was making a lame $50K/yr as a NT admin at Boeing....took the job for equiv pay rate of $65K/yr and had a lifetime memory. All your housing and food are paid for so it was quite a bit more money...only major expense was booze.
Mininum base (McMurdo) personel of about 600, max occupancy with scientists of around 1700. It's a complete city. They have cooks, carpenters, hairsylists, and lots of computer folk...pretty much anything you can think that a small town would have....but a heck of a lot more scientific equipment.
They're not hiring now as they do most of their work from September to May (Austural-Summer, our Winter time)....but it would be good to contact them for info....
