american express is giving away 25k points for new customers who sign up for their gold credit card.

you can take these 25k and redeem them for a roundtrip domestic flight, or u can trade it in for a $250 gift certificate

clean link to the deal

my wife and i both signed up, and we're going to use our plane tix to take our daughter to disneyworld LOL.

FYI,
The bonus 25,000 Membership Rewards points may be redeemed for one domestic round?trip airline ticket. Cardmembers transferring points to participating domestic airlines will be charged a fee of $.0004 per point, up to $50. This charge is to offset the excise taxes American Express currently pays to the government on such transactions.

individuals can apply too, just use your name as your business name, and enter your social security #.

leave the federal tax ID blank, and amex will just treat you as a sole proprietorship business. this is what i did and it worked fine, i got approved right away

FYI, this is NOT a pay over time card: "All charges made on this Charge Card are due and payable when you receive your billing statement."

Also, there is a $125 annual fee.

How soon can you redeem the points for a free flight? I need to travel in July so time is running out!

I applied, later got a phone call telling me i was approved. However, during my application, there is an option for a "fast" application if you have an existing AMex card already. I chose that. Couple days later, I see a $10 fee which is applied for linking the two rewards programs (from my existing, and this new gold card) together. (Its actually in the Terms and Conditions now that I checked).
When I called today, they said they will unlink it, and credit me the $10 back if I want.

So, beware of that. However, some of you might want the linking, if you have existing rewards points and want to add 25k from the new card to get something else, or buy an upgraded ticket to first class. Your choice.

By the time you get the points and credit it, it will be too late. I think it might take up to 1 monthly billing cycle for the points to show up. So even if you get it early, you will be travelling at very near future dates, and the cost of the flight will be greater than 25k points.

Doe this same fee apply to those that redeem their 25,000 points for a $250 gift certificate?

Great find, btw.

Dont think so.

Also, note that ALL airlines charge you 5-10 bucks for redeeming miles for a ticket. American charges you $7.50. Northwest $10 and so on.

Also 0.0004 * 25000 = $10, which is normal for processing fee when redeeming miles "anywhere".

American express has thier own traver; site like experiade and the prices on it are very good, even for last minute travel. They charge you no piont mark ups. Just use thier site and when you book say pay with pionts and thats it. For 25000 I can do 2 trips. My last trip from DC to Flordia cost me $165 round from that site so that only 16000 points.

If you sign up, and then quit before the first year is up...do you get to keep the miles somehow?

Well, got the card in the mail. No additional information in the ups overnight package I received about this deal. Anyway, I will call to confirm after I make a purchase.

Can't wait for this free flight!

I signed up for this back in June, got the card and made the first purchase in July.

My 25,000 bonus points posted on September 1.

So for anyone looking for quick miles, this isnt the answer. But a good deal, nonetheless.

Well I highly doubted I would qualify but I did immediately and I'm looking forward to picking a destination. I have friends in SF, Utah (Logan), and Vancouver Canada. I don't think I can use it for Canda, but tix to SF and Utah are cheap. Perhaps I'll go on a vacation in New York, DC, or FL? Where would you guys go?
