Thanks again, OP
Me too!

Again, Thanks Azoom, I love looking as far into the future as is possible.
And it appears that with the shared research from HHMI, it may be not only possible, but fun.

This appears to be a legitimate research hospital. The kind that lives on donations. I hope their not going to be spending much money on holiday presents for AT'ers. I'd think twice about asking for a free-bee from such an organization that could probably make better use of their dollars.

HHMI..."The Institute's founder, Howard R. Hughes, was a man of restless intellect, great energy and diverse talents. He dabbled in movies; designed, constructed and raced airplanes; made TWA a premier international airline; and built the Hughes Aircraft Company into one of the country's largest and most important defense contractors.

In 1984, a group of distinguished trustees assumed responsibility for the Institute and reaffirmed its primary purpose of basic medical research. They guided the Institute through the sale of the Hughes Aircraft Company, which the Institute owned entirely,

They got Billions of moolah so don't worry.

The Aviator..."--a biopic of Howard Hughes. Have not watch it so I don't know how accurate the portrayal was of this man. Howard Hughes is the Man, the Legend, the Myth.
Yep, they are arguably the richest hospital in the US. I saw some computer animated video clips on a cd included in my Cell Bio text, which were amazing. I'm in for all 5 dvd's, and am pretty excited about them. Thanks!

edit:i can't spell

19 days and counting as of today (12/1) for me. No one could enjoy science more. I'm hoping these are the real thing and not "the love life Albert Einstein's wife" malarky that passes for science nowadays. That's why I passed on the "ethics in science" and "safety and AIDS" horse manure. You just know what that's going to be, if you haven't had to sit through it a thousand times before.

The check-out system was a little buggy for me. (maybe because of firefox 2.0

I had to enter 2 order because things wouldn't show up in my cart.

Mine came in today, 12/04, 23 days.

What these turn out to be are DVDs of the yearly Holiday Science Lectures at HHMI. There are 4 lectures per series. 2002 forward have 2 DVDs.

So what I got is 1995 and 1998-2005 inclusive (without knowing that.) That means I'm missing 1996 and 1997, and they do not show up on any kind of search at the site. Too bad because at the companion site (www.biointeractive.org) the 1997 lecture on the senses (hearing, sight, etc.) looks especially interesting. The 2006 lecture has yet to be given, and you could register to attend.

(Although you can watch them on line, at 28800 baud max at my location there is not going to be much video, and choppy audio.)

Did anybody actually get or find the 1996 and 1997 lectures? I wonder whats up?

Wish they would allow the downloading of the ISOs, I feel guilty for getting the DVDs when I know some school could be getting them instead of just me and more people than myself could be benefiting.

Ehh I watched 2 of them, most of it wasn't very useful. Still, free is free, thanks OP!

Edit: For clarification, I'm not big on biology or medicine. I still wanted to have them in my collection though =)

I watched like 30 min of 2 of the dvd's. Pretty boring if you ask me, and I have a degree in bio for whatever it's worth.

Free is free though
