Just ordered an XP1900+ retail and shipping came up free.

Don't know if this is for this particuluar item or if it's across the board.

Sorry if this is a repost but I thought I would get it on the Forum quickly so that if it hasn't been posted before others could take advantage of this deal.

Looks like they have free shipping right now for most of their AMD processors.

Looks like they are offering free shipping on most processors. However, it appears they raised the prices, so the net bottom line cost is about the same.:|

I checked that Maxtop $47 case they have and they still charge shipping for it in the shopping cart, so it is probably isn't across-the-board. Too bad, but at least you can save a couple more bucks on a proc.

Edit: uh-oh, just saw the previous post about prices. Gonna have to go check that out.

Newegg processor price increase confirmed. I was checking the cost of a Soyo Dragon+ and XP 1800+ OEM at Newegg yesterday to compare them to the Fry's $299 deal. The 1800+ has gone up by $4. If the shipping was $6.95 I think you still save a couple bucks, though perhaps not if you buy many items together and they discount the shipping.

I priced a duron 950 duron and the gigabyte 7ZMMH board the other day shipped for 155 and today it is 157 for the same thing shipped with the "free shipping" on the processor. That is serious BS!!!!! Anyone see some better deals to kick this's ass?

of course they do, almost every online vendor does, but at least newegg is pretty honest and up front about it

<< but at least newegg is pretty honest and up front about it >>

And how exactly do they do this? Did they post on their site that whenever we offer free shipping we raise the base price to compensate.

I would agree. At least you don't have to go all the way through checkout to find out they are trying to rip you off on the shipping charges. And if they raise the price to offset the "free" shipping, and you can find a better deal somewhere else; then go somewhere else. Good luck finding any place cheaper, faster shipping, cheaper shipping and decent reputation. Oh and if you find such a place, be sure to let us all know about it. Or better yet, don't bother since they will probably be out of business in a month or two. Until then, I will continue to look at newegg first for my hardware needs, with multiwave as a very good second choice.

Couldn't of said it better myself Novice. I also noticed the free shipping recently at Newegg, at also noticed that they raised their prices (AMD CPUs) a bit too. I've been following prices for a few days on Newegg and although they raised the prices on the AMD chips a bit, it's still a few bucks cheaper now w/free shipping.

EMScomputing.com has done the same thing... Free shipping but upped their prices..

I have been looking at the Antec 1040s for a little bit. They were $107.00 + $23.00 shipping.

Now they are just $128.00 with no shipping. Overall, a couple of bucks cheaper.

I have not followed their other products so don't know if the deals are better..

Last time I checked. That mobo combo would not have been 2 bucks shipped. It would probably be more like 8 to 12. So you are still saving money. Just my two cents. Ape Out.

This is not true for the 1700+ OEM. I should know, I just bought a 1700+ cpu from them on thursday (sigh). the 1700+ oem went for over 140 + $7 shipoping I think around xmas, around new years it was knocked down to 137+7, where it stayed until Thursday ABOUT 15 MINUTES AFTER I ORDERED, when it went down to 136+$7. As of fright now it is $136+$0. Great deal, wish I'd waited til monday as I'd orignially planned, their final price is $8 lower than it was just 3 days ago.

I am 100.0000% certain of these prices on the 1700+. Now, you may be right on the 1600+, I'm pretty sure it was 117 or something before ... and I think the 1700+ retail is higher too, come to mention it ...

Sometimes newegg has strange things on the web site:
Friday around 5 pm I found MSI-Ultra board for $99 with free shipping - normally $132+$10.
In 2 hours price went up to normal. Mistake or 2 hour sale?

All I can say is AMEX BLUE BABYYYY!!!!! This is the best thing that could happen. You get your product without shipping or tax, then you use the Best Value method to price match with the lowest online price (don't worry about ridiculous shipping/handling fees because they aren't included in the price match). BAM! You get the lowest possible price without paying anything for shipping or tax and you get it from a reputable retailer.

keep in mind that cpu prices do fluctuate daily, and their price increase may or may not be due to their shipping practices.

The XP 1900+ Retail was $279 previously and shipping was $6.95. I got the free shipping, as I mentioned, and the price was still $279. So for me, it was really free shipping with no price increase on the processor.

I wasn't sure about spending that much money for a few MHz more, but with free shipping, I couldn't afford not to (lol)

Going broke saving money, yeeaaaa!!!!!!

P.S. In about 45-50 days, it's price check time and good old Amex price guarentee!!!

What time do you start your shift at newegg?

Seriouslly, the CPU I bought 4 days ago went up EXACTLY the same amount as the shipping...
