Just for some useful information, the MSDNAA program provides downloadable ISOs of almost all "developer-related" software titles for free. Hard copy CDs can also be ordered for a very cheap price (e.g. $10 for all if VS.net 2003). The software has to be developer related, so software like Microsoft Office is NOT included in this (but Windows XP, Server 2003, VS.net, etc are)
For my school (I'm pretty sure it applies to the entire MSDNAA program) a student can download software through their department's MSDNAA program if they are part of that department, such as a declared major. Once they have the software, it is personally theirs forever, and can be used once they've finished school. However, like most academic licenses, you're not permitted to make money via the license (no selling it, no creating software with VS.net academic and selling said software, etc).
