Fresh Install Computer Freezing

Just finished installing everything on the computer and it all went well so I thought. After several hours of leaving the computer on I come back to find it has froze. No response what so ever only option is to reset. All my parts are at stock and seem to have tested fine they are as follows.

780i evga motherboard
q9650
gtx280
2 velicorapters, 1 1tb black edition
1 sound card
1 esata card
4 sticks of memory @ 1066mhz
Vista x64

I was thinking that it could be the hard drive but the thing is that I tested all of it and they come back good. All it says in event viewer is the previous system shutdown was unexpected. Can anyone help please.

I left the computer on during the day while I was at work in safe mode. Return home and everything still working fine. Restart in normal and no more then 20mins and it freezes again. Restart in safe again but still nothing under the application tab in event viewer. Is there anything or another way to check what program or service can be causing this unexpected freeze?

I am not using any particular program when this happens one time it was itunes this time it was firefox and I was formatting an external hard drive.

Any help or insight will be much appreciated.

Have you verified firmware and drivers are at the latest?

Yup latest firmware/BIOS and latest drivers. It doesn't seem to be any particular hardware but it has to be some service/application/driver. I just don't know how to identify it.

did you check your event viewer? that MAY send you in the right direction

Yes I originally posted that I did check it. All it says was there was an unexpected shutdown.

sorry for being gone so long been having issues with my own. what is the size of your psu? what steps have you done with what results? and no bad drivers in the device manager?

Kill processes and disable devices down to the bare essentials, check for freeze, slowly restart things one by one, ensuring proper operation after each till you nail it down.
