Hi,
One day, I smelled that all too familiar burning electronics so I pulled the plug on my Desktop. I automatically assumed it was my PS (not the first time that happened).
After 5 months, a friend recently bought a new CPU and gave me his 500w PS. He also gave me a 1gb PC3200 DDR module. I thought great, I would finally get to fix my desktop...I installed the PS and then proceeded to install the memory module when this greeted me...

I have a Biostar P4M800-M7A v7.2 and an NCP 512 memory module (PC3200).
I have yet to take a picture of the MoBo but the slot also has the burned areas. I installed the 1gb in the neighboring slot and everything worked fine. In fact, im typing on this desktop right now.
Any ideas what caused the short? faulty memory module? faulty board?
