My friend just built his computer but its running pretty slow, it's not spyware or virus anything since he just installed it.
Specs:
Intel Pentium D 950
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819116240
P5W DH Deluxe (http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?modelmenu=1&model=1198&l1=3&l2=11&l3=0)
Corsair XMS2 6400
http://www.corsairmemory.com/corsair/xms2.html
There are couple problems too, when the computer boots up the memory shows up as "5300" instead of "6400" he purchased. I tried running Memtest-86 two times and it passed both times. Also he told me before he purchased 2 gigs but it only showed up as 1 gig so he returned it thinking it was bad memory.
Windows takes a while to load and the mouse movement is laggy. We also tried updating the graphic card but it didnt fix anything.
On the "PC Probe" utility program ASUS came with it says that his motherboard is "red" (overheating) as well. The fans are installed right and thermal paste was on as well.
The DVD-RWM is real buggy as well, when I go on My Computer the Cd Drive "logo/icon" doesnt appear and doesn't auto run programs. Sometimes when I insert CDs it just automatically restarts. I was trying to update the driver but the dvd rw has no driver to begin with.
Any help is appreciated, thank you.
