Even on hardcore mode it took half a dozen bullets from an LMG to kill anyone in BC2. At least in MW2 I have an expectation of people dying. There are some really cool things you can do in BC2, but at the end of the day it just wasn't as fun for me.

Ever heard of bullet spread??? You're not supposed to constantly hold down the button to shoot anyone unless they're literally right in front of your face.

MW2 was good at the start but it got so annoying. It's very samey after a while.

BC2 just feels a bit deeper and looks better. The levelling system also seems more mature and less arcadey. Plus some of the big battles are amazing, you just never get that in MW2.

In BC 2 95% of the players are snipers so you get killed 2 seconds after you spawn or as soon as you try to run anywhere. Even if you manage to make it somewhere, the players are so fucking tiny you can't see them (plus they blend in with the environment). The guns are underpowered and inaccurate. It's basically the same as BF2, they just made some slight changes and called it BC2.

Oh give me a fucking break. 95 percent are snipers? You get killed 2 seconds after you spawn? LOL. Ignore this post OP.

As for your question, I didn't switch intentionally, but after I bought BC2 I played MW2 for maybe 10 minutes once and haven't gone back to it since. I like BC2 much more.

Well OP, you know after you buy Bad Company 2, we will be here to assist you in your learning process.

What are you waiting for? Stow your gear and fall in!

Maybe next time I get paid I will pick it up. Seems like a better investment than map packs for MW2, and nice to know there is an group of ANANDers that play as well. Wish I had a better PC to run it though... currently I'm stuck with my e8400 and 8800GT.

An e8400 and 8800gt is fine for running BC2. It's what I used before I upgraded my computer.

I had to tone the resolution down to 1680x1050 and set everything at medium, but it was nice and smooth.

Yea, pontifex has a knack for overblowing the sniper problem in bc2. He takes every chance to blast bc2 and praise mw2.

I wouldn't mind the pc version of MW2 if it weren't for all the hacks. I got the game on the cheap a while back, and within 3 hours of gametime, I was already level 70/10th prestige. Wtf? that takes away the whole point of the game. I could start over and back up the profile, but what's the point? The game is full of cheaters.

I am currently running with that exact config. Of course, the e8400 is OC to 3.6Ghz, and the 8800Gt is running at some mild factory OC.

Running @1680x1050 with medium graphic settings. I think I average about 50 FPS. Well playable. We can discuss more detailed settings when the time comes.

I used to run my e8400 @ 3.8GHz, but it won't remain stable anymore . When the time comes maybe I'll shoot you a PM to get some idea of what settings are best.

if the chip is starting to go, a nice side note is that BC2 is very nicely multicore'd......

what are your AA settings? i have similar hardware and i set everything on medium except effects (put it on low because i think it helps lessen dust/sand) at times i get massive fps drops but most of the times i average about 50 too. i'm trying to figure out which AA setting is optimal, i have it at 4x right now.

I am a veteran of FPS games. It is MUCH easier to kill someone in MW2 than in BC2. Only takes 2 bullets if no headshot in MW2, and that's not hardcore mode.

I played all the maps, modes, and classes in BC2 and found it much less enjoyable than MW2. There might be a difference in enjoyment between consoles and PC's in the case of MW2 though.

This swings both ways. It may be easier to kill someone in MW2, but it's also a lot easier to be taken down by someone you didn't even know was there.

I agree with what some people have mentioned, the big battles in BC2 just feel a lot more epic; something that you can't get with MW2. When there's that last objective to blow up etc. the battle can get quite intense. Also it seems a lot more team-based with the 4man squad system etc. Of course there are always those all-sniper squads which each member just goes solo (lame) but often times you get into a squad that's pretty versatile (1 medic, assault, recon, engineer) and sticks together and you have great fun. For some reason though I do terrible in the PC version of BC2 versus the console Xbox360 version (I own both).

I never noticed any epic battles in BC2 compared to MW2.

The thing I always missed playing BC2 was the javelin. So often I wished I had it.

Radar awareness and map knowledge helps a lot. Claymores behind me, flashes in front. I don't often get killed from behind and my double shotguns keep it clear in front

I like both. I find BC2 to be a good game, but I cant stand the not being able to go prone. That was the tough part for me. I stopped playing it after about 60 hours (xfire shows 39, but it wasnt alwasy on) mainly because it wasnt running properly at the time. One of the updates fixed it and I play it here and there.

Played MW2 for around 250hrs by steams account. But since VAC cant seem to ban even half the hackers on the PC version, I just stopped playing it a couple months back. I tried it again a few days ago, and once yesterday, and both times it had at least 1 hacker in the game by the 2nd map, if not the second round of HC S&D. I find the PS3 version to be great and all, but I cant stand the controllers, so I play it rarely on there. (Solution to the hackers, be the host, find the hackers name and find an association with it in the incoming IP logs, then block the IP at your router using a laptop. they CI and no more hacker)

But to put it all in perspective for you, I've played CoD4 every day now for nearly a month straight, and find it to be a ton more fun then MW2. The ability to play custom maps and mods with custom guns and actually enjoy a game is a nice change of pace. With MW2, you either deal with the hacker or leave (or block them if you know how, which is a pain in the arse). With CoD4, you simple ban them from console, or an rcon tool, or something like bigbrotherbot.

CoD4 = BC2 > MW2 is how it seems to me. I can play BC2 and CoD4 for the enjoyment of actually playing. With MW2, I quit and go back to the others.

never had a good back and forth conquest? or a rush mode go to almost no tickets at each stage? with the mcom going off just before tickets deplete or even worse, tickets deplete when its about to go off at the end?

friggin epic.

a rush round can last 30-40 minutes. same with conquest

whats the average time of TDM when its not full of sucky people? couple minutes?(its been a while since I played, but I remember rounds going fast)

oh your AA setting is pretty minimal. also, you can bump up your aniso to the max as this has very little affect on frame rates and doesn't tax the card much. everything else is the same as what i use except effects (low) and FOV (60). and my frame rates are around 45-55 for the most part.
