Front Audio help

Hey I just set up a new build, but the front audio headphon/mic and I guess speakers are not working. have a CoolerMaster Cm690 and a gigabyte ds3l. I hooked up the Ac' 97 cord onto audio jack on the mobo. I did not hook up anything to the "speaker" section of my mobo, wich is located near the other front panel plugs such as led and power switches. I just thought pluggin in the Ac '97 would taker care of all audio. Am I supposed to plug something into the "speaker" front panel plugs? Thanks alot.

well, we'll need to see this plug you plugged in and go over the motherboard manual, I would suggest you re-read the manual.

also, which revision of the board is this? it will be printed on the board itself.

if this is a rev. 1 board, I do not see any audio near the front panel, only 2 banks of USB, PWr LED, and the IDE Plug, I checked the manual, I'll need to see what this device is that you plugged in, and what your front panel audio plug looks like.

I have a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L installed into my Cooler Master 690 series case with no other issues than sound. I installed the Realtek HD Audio Drivers installed and all sounds work fine from the back of the on board sound. My problems is with the front audio plugs on the case. No matter what headphones and mic I plug in the computer is not recognizing the ports as being active.

ahh i didnt see all of your post. I plugged my HD Audio plug from the case into the _Audio jack, which is on the back of the mobo, right of the pci-express solt and left of the cpu holder.

I was talking about the 4 orange jacks that are labeled as "speaker" in the manual, I don't think those have anything to do with it tho. My board llooks pretty much the same as rev 1.

you need to plug the front panel ausio into that plug you have the ac97 plugged into, the one between the pciex and the cpu. that's the front panel audio plug.

well i did that, but you see i plug in the headphones to the front panel, buthe sound does not switch over. If I do a test on the realtek audio manager software I hear sound through the headphones, but if I'm playin music the sound does not switch over to the headphones.

what program do you use to play music?

ok i got it to work...i was using ipod earbuds, which seem to be incompatible...it works with regular headphones/earbuds. Thanks alot however!
