FU Verizon Wireless - I won!

Circa 2001I cancelled my cell service with Verizon. Originally I had been an airtouch customer. Shortly after Verizon bought out Airtouch I also moved and had to switch coverage regions. A few months after moving I decided to drop Verizon, crappy customer service being one of the big reasons.

At the time I had most of a month paid for already, yet after cancelling I still received bills but they just should my account as being credited. After 2 months of this and no check I went to the local Verizon place. I was told they couldn't issue a check without me bringing them a copy of the cancelled check showing that the amount of been paid to them; of course totally neglecting the time it had already been paid and the account statements I had received. I was not abotu to go pay the $20 fo a copy of the paid check and I figured they had some flag on my account as the idiot attempted to charge me when I quit the service even then I had been out of contract status for well over a year.
(At least one time in life being able to use the line show me where I signed that and winning is something not to be missed.)

It's been a good 20+ months since I had last talked to them. And today in the mail shows up a check from VW for my $58.

I have had no problems with Verizon, they rock if you know how to use their automated system.

But most people want competent people on the other end of the line if/when they need them, not some smooth talking voice recognition system that screws up 1/2 of everything you tell it. If I ever have a problem (only once now), I just call the data group at Alltel and I'm immedietly talking to a person. Also, I;m usually taken care of within a few minutes.

the only issue that i had from verizon was that they didnt have coverage at my parents house. they even worked with me when i was having financial troubles, not shutting off my sevice. Though, I am just as happy, with t-mobile now, most people i know have verizon, so i have to have a lot of minutes on my plan. additionally, i recieved my $125 deposit about 5 weeks after i cancelled and waived my cancellation fee (due to coveage).

You actually don't talk to VZW's automated system. It's all button-driven, and if you call from your cellphone, you only basically need to punch in where you want to go.

Here's a hint to get directly to CS's que: Press "4" at the main menu, then "5" at the next menu.

Can't say I know much about the automated system. I would routinely deal with the VW store only a couple blocks from me.

Verizon was absolutely horrible back then.
