About, maybe, seven or eight years ago MD's hamburgers started tasting like they were soaked in water. Mushy. They started looking different too. Like a sponge or ???
Fast forward to a year ago and the reason made clear. Pink slime.
But anywho, it was about eight years ago when something changed big time.

I might go to MD's about maybe once in a three month span, maybe.
But never changes, afterwards, I feel like I've been poisoned.
Same with KFC. That afterward yeck feeling.

Like most refined food, they use cheap ingredients, remove minerals and nutrients (sell them at a profit) and then have scientists and psychologist add flavorings to fool tastebuds about said elements. Sounds more like a science experiment than food. nom nom

Apparently, McDonald's stopped using cutting room entrails or pink slime this year. Though to call it "pink slime" is disingenuous and possibly slanderous, when McDonalds actually manufactured a more mindfully palatable 'finely textured beef' and they aren't entrails but byproducts of 'advanced meat recovery.' lol

Just read through this thread... pretty sure I'll be getting McD's breakfast this morning. McSkillet burrito meal w/large coffee and a sausage McMuffin on the side.

I'm not a food snob. I eat their food on occasion. Even the best tasting burgers that people applaud like Five Guys or In and Out are not good for you. So what.

You know these popular restaurants including chains aren't popular because "everybody else" is stupid and you're not. It's because it actually tastes good. You can dislike it all you want, but you're not special because you're not among the popular group.

Their coffee is the best. It's easily my favorite coffee to buy and it's cheap compared to Starfucks.

i think that's more because they make them in bulk. put them in a "warmer" while it soaked in grease then put it in a Q machine.

it sucked. I enjoy a FRESH off the grill McDonalds burger.

i'd like to taste an original mcdonald's hamburger from the 1950's or whenever the first store opened. no not an actual 60 year old hamburger, but one made exactly the way they made it back then. probably tastes like five guys or something.

I agree. Fresh meat made fresh? hell yeah.

Well, the earliest experience I can recall would have been in the late sixties, and if memory serves they didn't taste much different.

old man at my work says the same thing, used to work there in the 60's i guess. says it tastes a bit better today, kinda bland back then but good in comparison to whatever else they ate back then.

He also says hot dogs taste way way better today than they ever did when he was a kid in the 40's or 50's. From listening to him talk, he seems to think most all food today tastes much better overall. I think it's due to seasonings..culinaries pretty much got food down to a science these days.

I worked there for a few months in the mid-seventies, until the manager and I got into an argument and he fired me. I remember when they introduced the Big Mac, this was before I worked there, they ran a deal where you went to the restaurant and if you could say the "Two all-beef patties special sauce lettuce cheese pickles onions on a sesame seed bun" mantra in under two seconds you got a free sandwich.

As a kid in a family of 7, we frequently went to McDonalds back in the 80's and 90's for dinner. It was fast, cheap, and tasted good. Also, you could get a toy with every kids meal.

If you wanted to "dine in", you also had a decent jungle gym to mess around in.

When you grew up in a small town, you sometimes didn't have a choice BUT to go to McDonalds because that's all thats there. And I will swear by this rule every time, small town McDonalds are by far the best ones to stop at. If you see a McD's planted somewhere in the city, chances are its going to suck ass.

I do try and avoid eating it as much as possible, but when you are on the road it has it's obvious pro's.

If you think regular McDonalds are bad, go look at the kitchen in the Airport McDonalds!

On a side note, there is a new Wendy's being put in near me. I am giddy with excitement.

I can agree with that. My enjoyment of McDonalds is confined to outerburbs/semi rural areas. City Mcdonalds have a 70:30 suck:good ratio.

I don't know about small town or rural areas but in the city, fast foods restaurants in the nicer/wealthier areas are going to be better/fresher/cleaner than ghetto/poor sections of the city.

I love McDonalds.

I'm surprised the amount of protein is so low in the chicken nuggets.

The spicy mcchicken is really good for 1 dollar.

Best thing about McDonald's was when they had those burger and cheese burger deals for like 29¢ each and you'd see people with bag fulls of them. I ate like a king back then. This was in the 90's.

One huge advantage McDonalds has is "copy exact" no matter where you go. The burger/fries you buy in Seattle, WA taste pretty damn close to burger/fries you'll buy in Dalian, China [and is most likely a lot safer to eat as well].

While on the road [business trips] - I'd rather eat at McDonald's than the local establishments simply to lessen the chance of getting sick from food poisoning.
