Okay, this one came out of the blue and I'm stumped. All of a sudden my system is only semi-recognizing audio cds. Pop one in and windows says there's an audio cd in, but no apps recognize that there's a disc there. Check drive properties and it says that there are 0 bytes used on the drive (i.e. it's formated to audio but without any actual data there). Actually open the drive structure and you see the .cda files but they are all 44 bytes. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the mobo drivers (both from the manufacturer and nvidia), the ide channel drivers.. I've uninstalled the drive itself but windows automagically adds the drive back after the reboot and Memorex doesn't have a driver listed on their page. Uninstalled and reinstalled the drive-specific Nero (it implies in their faq somewhere that the drivers install when you install the rest of the software package). Even played with the Autoplay settings in TweakUI just in case. I'm stumped. The hardware involved is:

And before anyone asks, yes I tried more than one disc. Three real audio CDs and a burned audio CD all give the exact same results. Data cds, meanwhile, work just fine.
p.s. Also just notice another bit of weird behavior. Rather than giving a "drive not ready" type error when no disc is in and I try to open the thing it just shows me an empy directory structure, as if it were an empty hdd or something.
