Funny hard drive issue

I have a Maxtor 80gig 5,400rpm drive that makes ALOT of spindle noise. I'm sure you've heard it, it's that high pitched kind of oscillating noise. Now I also have a 40gig 7,200rpm WD that as far as I can tell is not as bad, but it makes a slight oscillating noise as well, and when the 2 drives are spinning together, omg, I feel like my eardrums are going to start bleeding or something. Dose anyone know if any of the newer drives out are more quiet when it comes to spindle noise? I dont really want a barracuda due to the large amounts of heat they put out, and I would want my storage drive to be 5,400rpm. Any advice would be great.

i'm sticking with my 40 gig Barracuda 7200 rpm, no heat problem, though the max heat recommended by seagate is 60 deg , but best at under 45 deg.
i've been using seagate since I had my first PC, and I'm really stuck into it. once I use maxtor 2.1 gig, and it broke down twice, so i'll never use maxtor again.

my friends and i still using seagate until now, and have no heat problem, although if there is, i'm sure it won't bother you as much as the noisy maxtor does.

believe me, i've heard those kind of noise, i know how much it hurts
