No but I walked up and cut their throat while they were still alive.
Don't generalize, PETA and the animal rights groups find isolated incidents and act like it's common practice throughout the industry and it's not. Most of the animals taken for their pelts are mean little fvcking rodents, the workers at mink farms have to wear chainmail gloves and steel gauntlets lest they be ripped to shreds. I don't have much sympathy for them, nor will I ever. I don't support abuse of the animals and I think it sould be punished if they are inflicting unecessary pain but I do NOT have a problem with taking pelts.

But people are animals. KILL EM ALL!
So why are you defending cruel treatment of animals by saying that "people have always used skins"? That's like defending use of agent orange on innocent people by saying "people have always fought wars".

That video is from a 3rd world area so you can't really expect much from the "people" on the footage.

This thread makes me want to renew my LIFE membership in the NRA.
As has been very well said by rahvin and others; I don't condone, like, get off on the torture of animals.
Honestly, it bothers me to see them skinned while still twitching.
That said, I have no problem humanely killing animals and when dead, skinning them. There's no pain or suffering there.
We are at the top of the food chain, period. You may not like it, but no matter how you punch the buttons on the Weenie Softie Pussilator 5000, humans are still at the top of the food chain.
I have hunted, helped skin (yeah...I needed help b/c I didn't know where to cut) a deer and watched the carcass get butchered. It was pretty educational, actually. Most of the meat was eaten by my buddies' family. I got about 10 pounds of Deer Jerky out it...awesome stuff.
AFAIC, there's three groups of people with this animal thing.
Those that oppose killing animals for any reason at all, not even if it means them starving.
Those that completely support killiing animals for food and clothing, but doing it humanely (that's me)
Those that don't care if it's still completely alive, they'll bite into it, eat it, skin it and screw it (that would be many Bubbas and the 3rd world peoples depicted in the video at the top of this thread)
That's my take and tough noogies if you don't like it.
Actually, 10 lbs of jerky is quite a lot of raw meat. You lose a lot of water weight when you dry it out.

But humans are above that. Well, some of us are.

Yeh, especially considering that a "average" sized deer might get you about 50-60 pounds of desireable cuts of meat. Less for younger deer that are more tender and oh so yummy...more for older larger deer that are like chewing on a tire

Um, OK. The real hunter-gatherers have checked in.
I guess I actually wound up with 1.43 Kgs of actual processed meat, after cleaning, shrinking, seasoning, state tax, sales tax and shrinkage in cold weather.
Whatever! I shot the damn thing, got bloody when I cut an artery, hauled it to the butcher and then I got a plastic bag a few days later.
Shhhhieeet, you guys get technical with some non-technical stuff here....
