So why are you defending cruel treatment of animals by saying that "people have always used skins"? That's like defending use of agent orange on innocent people by saying "people have always fought wars".
He'll never be able to persuade you one way or another. You hold the root opinion that killing an animal for it's fur is cruel at the most basic of levels. No quick and painless means of death could persuade you to think any other way.
Bottom line is - the world is a cruel place. Some kid in China probably get's paid $.10 a day to put my laptop together that I'm typing on. Some woman in Mexico gets paid $.25 a day to sew together my sheets bedding linens. Some woman lost a husband who died getting oil off an oil rig to fuel your car. Some woman lost a son defending your freedom. Some poor mouse is still alive as a bird of prey disembowels it. Some raccoon takes a .22 to the head before it gets thrown in the back of a truck and hauled off to a trappers garage to get prepared to be a coat.
Look around you right now. Probably half the products in your room came from the pain and suffering of someone or something that was taken advantage of.
I'm not saying it's right. It's just the way it is.

Are you a vegan?

I actually don't care about animals being killed to be eaten/used as fur/etc.
But they need to *kill* the animals first. Skinning them alive is unnecessary suffering.

I've shot, gutted and skined and then wore the skin of animals and will do so in the future.
Nothing to see here people.
Back in the day fur coats were a byproduct. People hunted for and killed animals. They'd use EVERYTHING. Eat the meat. Make tools out of the bones. Wear the skin and fur.Originally posted by: malak
Humans have been using fur for clothes for thousands of years, get over it.
Good post, I agree with you. But if you watch the video though, some of the animals are still alive when they are done with them. Those guys need to be tasered in the nuts.Originally posted by: MichaelD
This thread makes me want to renew my LIFE membership in the NRA.
As has been very well said by rahvin and others; I don't condone, like, get off on the torture of animals.
Honestly, it bothers me to see them skinned while still twitching.
That said, I have no problem humanely killing animals and when dead, skinning them. There's no pain or suffering there.
We are at the top of the food chain, period. You may not like it, but no matter how you punch the buttons on the Weenie Softie Pussilator 5000, humans are still at the top of the food chain.
I have hunted, helped skin (yeah...I needed help b/c I didn't know where to cut) a deer and watched the carcass get butchered. It was pretty educational, actually. Most of the meat was eaten by my buddies' family. I got about 10 pounds of Deer Jerky out it...awesome stuff.
AFAIC, there's three groups of people with this animal thing.
Those that oppose killing animals for any reason at all, not even if it means them starving.
Those that completely support killiing animals for food and clothing, but doing it humanely (that's me)
Those that don't care if it's still completely alive, they'll bite into it, eat it, skin it and screw it (that would be many Bubbas and the 3rd world peoples depicted in the video at the top of this thread)
That's my take and tough noogies if you don't like it.
I agree with Schrodinger...Originally posted by: jagec
you're right, we should just kill everyone in the third world since they aren't human:roll:Originally posted by: Schrodinger
That video is from a 3rd world area so you can't really expect much from the "people" on the footage.
Please DIAF, idiot.

I heard today that Peta supports fur, at least when the homeless wear it.
