Future of DDR3 memory?

Is this ging to happen...? Will we be seing some 2000Mhz sticks with 7-7-7-24 settings and similar?
Prices started to drop, will there be new inventions?

woow...nice... I guess when nehalem comes it would bring some sick modules at even sickier prices...

It will be very interesting to see how mem manufacturers will react to Nehalem and its integrated triple channel memory controller. I bet that we are gonna see some very interesting triple channel kits out there soon. I wonder at what speed/timings and prices these kits will be available. Undoubtedly the introduction of such products will stir things in the mem market.

I haven't read much about Nehalem. Does it work with dual-channel as well, or only triple-channel? Are we going to see desktop motherboards with three or six memory slots?

We know that there will be dual and triple channel DDR3 Nehalems targeted at the desktop market and I've also heard about quad channel (FB-DIMM) chips for the server market.

With all these variations it is uncertain whether Intel will use a single socket for the lot of them. Maybe they will use a single socket for the desktop parts (LGA 1366) and another for the server parts but nothing is certain yet. With the IMCs being so different the pin count for dual,triple and quad channel chips will vary a lot.

I do not know if we are going to see desktop mobos with 3 DIMM slots but we are definitely going to see boards with 6 DIMM slots like Foxconn's Renaissance mobo.
