Future of s939?

Are s939 processors going to be used for a while before the socket is changed? I ask this because I bought an 9NPA+ and I was wondering if I would be able to upgrade in, say, 1.5 years?

No worries, Socket 939 will continue and will become AMDs "budget line", like S754 is now... There will be some interesting products launched for it too... AMD Sempron 64s on S939... This could be tasty IMO...

A new socket you say? I laugh in the face of upgrades!

They are great, and are set to become even better when they go dual core, but IMO they are too expensive... Overclocking could yield you a much better performance than one of 'em... Of course, they're AMDs top solution for a reason...

Considering the only thing you get for paying top dollar is an fully unlocked multiplier I'd say they arn't worth it unless money is no object.

Hehe, not my intention, but I'm however awaiting those Semprons... They could prove strong performers, especially when overclocked (cfr. S754)... Maybe their L2 cache gets bigger...? Who will tell?
