Fuzzy lines in my monitor?????

Upon startup today my monitor looks like a badly tuned tv program. I don't know what the problem could be it worked fine yesterday.
My setup:
cusL2
700e at 854
geforce 2 gts
phillips 21" monitor
windows me
4.0 detonator drivers (I think)
This should be enough to go on LMK

Maybe a short in the wire, or bad radio interference.

make sure you didnt set something by your monitor that may be creating a magnetic field.

Well guys I haven't moved anything so I don't think that is the problem. Could it be that my monitor is going?

I used to do monitor repairs and it sounds like it could be a cold solder or a Hsync transister going bad. Since its a 21incher you should take it to a good repair shop not one that will rob you blind. If its a cold solder its a bitch to fix if its an Hsync than its usually easy. Good Luck!

What kind of money are we talking? If its going to be major it might be in my best interest to just bye a new one? I don't have a pile of money in this one

It depends on whats wrong. If its the Transister it shouldn't be very expensive for the part maybe 50 to 100 bucks and labor should be no more than 30 - 50 bucks an hour depending on your region. I am assuming this is a fairly new 21 inch monitor it would cost you at least 300 bucks to replace it so it should be worth the fix. The most important thing is to find a repair shop that won't rip you off it should not take more than a few hours (2-4) to find the problem and fix it. Make sure the shop is certified to fix the brand you are bringing them. Try to find one that offers free or cheap estimates then decide if its worth it. I would find out b4 you junk it though.

I am going to bring back this thread from the depths. I just received a call from the service shop that I took my monitor to and they told me it was a bad crt. I know that philips isn't the greatest monitor manufacturer but they certainly aren't the worst. Do you think they screwed up?? I know it could be the crt but it doesn't seem right to me?? Sh1t most televisions that are scrapped the tube is still good it just didn't make sense to fix the broken part that won't let it work.

Well you should ask how much they want to do the repair. If it is a crazy number these guys are probably screwwing you. When I did repairs we would leave the CRT as a last ditch effort cause it is the most expensive to replace and the most labor intensive. Are these guys trustworthy, are they a certified Panasonic repair center? What area of the country do you live in?

Duck I live in Flint Michigan. I don't know if I trust them the shop is kind of ratty and I wasn't at all impressed with their customer skills. I know another guy that has a shop and I will see if he can fix it. What would a crt replacement cost??

Like this? When this happen to me, I shut down the PC and push the video card harder into the AGP slot. Then restart the PC and it gone

No not like that at all. I have the problem traced down to the monitor or the cable for that matter. I have another monitor that I am using and it works fine.

What is the exact model # on that Monitor. I'll call a service center and get a price on one. I may even be able to get a price from Philips.

Duck the monitor is at the shop still I will pick it up tomorrow. The monitor is a brilliance 21a. I don't have a model number handy let me get back to you on that. I appreciate your help

Hey no problem those Mom and Pop repair shops ripping ppl off is one of the reasons we're a throw away society. Its a shame.
