What is with all this news about countries going to the moon? Russia + China? India? The U.S. has a new, Apollo-like capsule to go BACK to the moon?

Oil on Mars? Only if it once supported Earth-like plant life, and lots of it. And the bacteria and microbes necessary. Not sure what exactly it takes to break down biomatter into oil other than time and pressure.

I see. So the NEW race to the moon is essentially the race to Mars?

I bet we planned small nukes up there for the Chinese/Russians to land on. After all, we thought the Soviets were right behind us.

Well it's actually a race against China somewhat also but has the added advantage of being a launching point for getting to Mars also.

Speaking of the moon, isn't some satellite from the European Space Agency about to become crashed into it? IIRC, 10:40pm pacific time, and should be visible from earth with a good telescope. I just don't recall which day it's supposed to happen. (one of the next 3 or 4 nights)
