See, well i do agree with you that a 4800+ would be a far better buy than the FX-55, i wish people wouldn't make these wild OC speculations.

Before Venice actually hit the stores, we saw a few cherry-picked CPUs in reviews hitting 2.8 with stock voltage, & suddenly, everyone was claiming, wait for Venice; they will hit 3.0 GHz or whatever.

Do you really honestly believe the 4800+ is going to hit 3.0 GHz with normal cooling?
Cause i really don't.

I'm guessing we'll getting 2.9 if we're extremely lucky, but more likely 2.6-2.8 maybe.
I'm betting average will be even less.

I guess this little rant is simple. Pls. don't make these speculations that always turn out to be wrong.

3ghz on a 2.6ghz FX-55 should not be an issue at all..

The 2.4ghz 4800+ @ 2.8ghz is not WILD speculation, it's very possible. I guess we shall see when It comes out.

Although, the FX57 should be around the same price, if you're willing.

What is it with people so adament that this CPU doesn't exist? There's one guy I know of thats trolling all the forums starting flame wars about this

I doesn't matter to me as I would never buy one. But for a non-exsistent CPU it sure is in stock at a lot of places.

Someone at xtreme called newegg. They claimed newegg said they got 5 CPU's in the original shipment and one guy bought three of them. They don't know when they will get more, thats why they pulled it off their site.

there is one guy who was linked tot this forum who had an x2 at 3ghz, admittedly with a big smeg off hs and an open cases and some fans but it did hit it, very nice too imo
