I had a PNY Ti-4200 with 64 MB RAM. It went bad and I had to RMA it. Anyway, it's been a couple of weeks and PNY says they have been on backorder for over a month and probably still will be for another 2 or 3 weeks. They said the only other card they can send me is the FX 5200. I guess I'm looking for advice as to whether I should wait for the Ti-4200 to come back in stock or to have them send the 5200. I don't know anything about the 5200 and was hoping someone could give me an idea of what the pros/cons would be. Thanks.

No way. It's a better GF4 MX with DX 9 Support...

ASk for a refund.

EDIT:

You would be better off with a Geforce 3.

I'm not sure how I can get a refund. I'd just contest the charges through my credit card company, but I think the situation is complicated because I bought the card through Best Buy.

By the way, does that "no way" mean "no way don't take the 5200?"

No way, do not take the freaking fx5200. There are basically no "pros" with that card over the ti4200.

I'll throw in the descenting opinion... Get them to give you a 5200 Ultra 128mb. THey are comparable to a 4200, and surpass it in DX9 performance... The 5200 Ultra is often overlooked as a low end card... But it's nearly twice as fast as the 5200.

Comparable to a ti4200 only when aa/af are enabled. link

Just annoy them until they offer an FX Ultra card above the 5200U or a Ti4200. If you're really feeling adventurous demand a 128MB 4200.

DEMand!.....I say, DEMAND an FX5900 Ultra 256MB for your troubles. They will do 1 of 2 things, laugh histarically at you, or laugh histarically at you and hang up.

For real though, if your willing to pay the difference, see if they can send tou a Ti4400, or 4600.....if they have them in stock. I posted recently about *upgrading* from my 4200 128MB to an FX5600. After reading the responses, and doing a little more research, I wouldn't go any lower than the 5800 in the FX series.
