I was wondering if you had the cash would you rather get

ASUS V9950 Ultra GeForce FX 5900 Ultra 256MB or the ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB DDR

(Dunno when the ATI AIW 9800 256MB comes out)

I would get the Radeon, better visual quality and with the added benfits of the AIW features, you can enjoy TV on your PC among other things. If you don't need the AIW features, I would get a regular 9800 Pro 128MB card, overclock it, and watch it soar past the 5900 Ultra. You may even want to consider the 256MB Radeon...just depends on how much gaming you'll be doing with the card.

W/ all the settings cranked up, the fx5900 will rule over the Radeon. I believe the high end 5900s all come w/ tvout and everything... So go fx5900 Ultra... w/ your 500mhz core and 1000mhz memory.... *drool*

AIW will mean that you will lose TV capability if/when you upgrade your graphics card, better in some ways if you have the PCI slots to get a seperate TV tuner card.
And the 2 cards are fairly equal in terms of performance, and the extra 128MB RAM on the 5900 you're looking at is unnecessary, might as well go for the 128MB 5900 or 128MB 9800 and a seperate TV tuner card, that would also mean you keep TV tuner when you upgrade graphics card.

I would go for the best deal (software and price) on a 5900U 128MB or 9800Pro 128MB and a seperate TV tuner (search for threads about TV tuner, if you want any sugestions).

they are about the same, i would get the cheapest. the 5900 ultra is slightly faster, but the AIW has more features.

You guys should really read up on how 256 Megs of VRAM is worthless. But if you want to spend the extra $100 go a head.

It may be worthless now, but when HL2 and Doom 3 come out and he can run it faster than a Kenyan Olympic runner on crack, i bet he won't be complaining!

Except for the fact that it is wasting money on RAM that isn't needed now. When 256 MB of VRAM is necessary these cards will be much cheaper.

Doom 3 has been said to only use 80 Megs at Max. I have no idea what HL2 will be using, maybe somewhat more because of its hi-fi textures.

Im not sure where everyone gets their information from. But so far what I have read from both AnAndTech and TomsHardware. The Geforce 256 5900fx is the fastest card on the market. Most other sites are not as biased on the real marks.

You might want to read more of the ATI before you go purchase the card.

GF FX 256 would be slightly faster than the Ati
I bought the ATi radeon after waiting and waiting for Nvidia to get they're act together.
I was a Nvida loyalist for many years and will buy their product again when I see fit.
It does not mean JACK sh??t about being trustworthy.
The 9800 Pro is a dam nice card compared to what I had in.
I wish I would have waited another month for the 5900, but I just got tired of waiting.
I want to play games now, and the ATi fit the bill.
Their visual quality is great and absolutely no driver problams whatsoever with the 3.6's

I would go for the cheapest one as they are in a dead heat tie. ATi a little faster here FX a little faster there.
Put it in a hat and pick and stick to your decision, you can't lose either way.
