A friend of mine has a Gigabyte GA-7VAX board, currently running two sticks of Muskin PC 2100 512mb = 1,024mb ddr memory, and an AMD 2400XP processor ( 2ghz ). OS is Windows 98SE. He has an issue with the Realtek ALC 650 Codec drivers not properly loading. He downloaded the current bios, and all current drivers for the board and onboard sound, but, no luck. He sent off to Gigabyte tech support for advice, they replied back that this board does not support 1gb memory and over 2ghz processor, in Windows 98SE. According to the board's manual, it supports up to 3gb ddr memory. Is it possible that because he's running Windows 98SE, he may not get the memory and processor support the board specs list? He's going to pull out one stick of memory, and see if the sound drivers will install then, on their tech supports advice.
