oh ...... hmmm. those sources were pretty old. gimme some time. I gotta go to bed now, or I'd keep looking. I'll get back to ya tomorrow if I can. In the mean time I'd recommend running prime95 (to find out why and/or how read this whole thread) Like I said, I'll kick around, see what I can find, and get back to ya.

what method did you use to flash your bios? I've read of some ppl having problems flashing with the tool that's on the support cd (think it was called @bios)

I flashed it with the latest version of the @bios off their website, board has dual bios on it so if it didn't flash right it should have told me something was up and switched.

in post it lists it as revision F13 now I think, it was F9 before I flashed.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On other areas, it just may be that my PSU is the culprit (but I would put more $$ on the AGP slot itself) My Antec is only a year old yet it seems to have been a weany of a psu in some aspects - 20a max on 12v whilst the newest truepower 430w goes up to 26a.

I am going to RMA it soon as I have been told 20A will not power an A64 system

(PS prime95 torture is running on my box at home, we will see how it goes)

That's a load. My psu is some 480w powmax pos with 17a on the 12, and I've never had a stability problem yet. (don't tell mechBgon I said that, he'll freak! ) Not that I don't think a good psu is impotant, I just think ppl blame too many probs on the psu. Although, it could just be a bad psu. Let me know how prime95 goes. If it's stable for 24 hours or so, I'd bank on it being a mobo or vid card prob. (probably vid as your mobo seems to be fine otherwise.)

I feel I should clarify that a good psu does become extreamly important in a system with pci-e.

I'm contempating buying a fortron blue storm 500w for this new system ive read I dont know how many threads on 5+ big forums where people using Truepowers on an MSI Neo2 plat. have their mb die within 2 days....then its a complicated process to either totally remove power from the mb, or rma it for another which dies within 2 days.

OCZ 520w's seem to have the same prob with this board.

Whats another $75 anyways I can just downgrade to a 3200+ winchester and save that much there.

I spose so. It's probably not a bad idea, especially if ther is a known prob with the pair. Like I said, I don't want to undermind the importance of a good psu, it's just like I said, I think too many ppl blame too many things on the psu. Of corse, I could be wrong, and it maybe a bigger problem than I realize. Who's to say?

oh and .... i'm offended :| DOWNGRADE to a 3200+ !!!!!! I will have you know the 3200 is a fine chip, a very fine chip, hmph!!! *crosses arms* (just kidding, I'm just bitter I couldn't afford a faster cpu. oh how I covet the FX-55 ohhhhhh *drools* )

In 8x AGP my computer will reboot by itself within 5 secs of any 3D application (games, this goofy 3d desktop from MSI, etc). Not due to heat as I could set card to 8x AGP in bios right when I turn computer on for the day and it will reboot a minute later if I start a game or whatnot.

No worries though as I know nothing really uses more than 3.8x AGP nowadays anyway.

It's not just you. I had this problem as well with my old Athlon XP motherboard.

it's starting to sound more and more like either a mobo or vid card issues (at least we're narrowing it down )

Well I will definitely know if its my video card when I plug it into a new a64 system...wonder what to do if it is, about a year and a week old so hopefully it would have some sort of warranty on it! got it in retail box for xmas...but who knows if fiance kept the receipt.

Think I will RMA my psu as well tomorrow, no sense in passing up +6A upgrade for shipping cost. Its got enough juice for my components, and if it gets flakey I can sense mod it

Well prime95 ran fine all night long ~ looked at temps in everest before I shut it down and cpu was at 44c motherboard at 41c.

I tried running a few games at once today (jedi academy, battlefront, jedi knight 2) while watching my voltages through everest...the 3.3v pretty much stayed at 3.23v no matter what, 5.0v was staying solid at 4.91v, and the 12v would vary from 11.8v to 11.97v when nothing was running but windows.

Seems like this system has plenty of power imo.
