It is looking like a double DEM win in Georgia!

Warnock has been called on WaPo,

And Perdue is 16,000 votes ahead with them still counting mail in votes, in heavily democratic counties.

We desperately needed a functioning government to deal with Covid and everything else, and looks like we are going to get it!

calm down sparky. One appears all but certain the other not so certain.

What wonderful news to wake up to.

But everything just got a little more dangerous for the next couple of days/weeks.

I hope we make it and the Qult starts to fade.

You know... if Ossoff ends up losing and the senate remains under Republican control, Mitt Romney “could” prove his patriotism by switching party affiliation over to the Democrats. No republican likes Mitt Romney anyway and Mitt has his issues with republicans, so why resist? Mitt could do the right thing and jump ship for the sake of the union.

Mitt will never switch parties. Never. What a silly thing to say.

He would likely vote with dems on certain issues, though. However, without the specter of Trump (largely hated by the Mormons that are in charge of keeping Mitt's gears greased and his face mask on straight), it's probably less likely that he's going to make public protestations against GOP poison going forward.

Also... If this shit really flips two senators ... Holy crap, you will have a new living legend freedom fighter on your hands :
Stacey Abrams

I see the first black female POTUS in the making right there.

When the dust settles, its one of those things where you may go, well, maybe it was for the better that Kemp cheated her ass out of governorship, had she been busy as Governor would she have had time to do the grass root undertaking this took?

She's a rock-star and deserves what ever appointment she wants--though it's always a bad idea to remove someone from a position in which they are super, super, super effective and further: crucial at what they do. I'm thinking she'll be running for governor again, and is likely a lock. GA needs her because that state has 4 enema's worth of GOP expunging that needs to be done once Kemp is tossed into the trash bin where he belongs. (It may come sooner than people expect: anyone that assumes there is anything clean about Kemp has another think coming)

(yes, it's THINK, not THING, damnit!)

Massive credit to Stacey Abrams for sure.

And let this be a lesson for any party that fails to deliver on good governance. It was only 4 years ago that the same thing happened to the Democrats. This is their opportunity to deliver for a hurting nation. If they allow the GOP to take total control again...they may never get it back.

I wake up to see GA turned blue! What kind of nightmare is this!

I'm actually ok with this. I was fine with either party winning. Now let's see if the Dems follow through with all their promises.

Well, deep purple anyways. Look at the maps, almost all counties red except the urban areas. That divide is also evident in most other states and is unlikely to go away any time soon.

They will be more successful in 6 months than the Republicans where the whole 4 years of Trump's Presidency. That includes the first 2 years where they had total control, and where already so divided they barely passed the tax bill.

Of course you are. You know as well as anyone that pays attention that no matter what disasters this country faces or political turmoil, the one overriding truth since Reagan permanently skull-fucked this country, the market is locked down to insure that "downturns" are designed to make the already-wealthy even wealthier. Only the middle class and poor need be concerned.

A thought.
I'm surprised it was as close as this. Apparently the Q and Lin Wood influence is not quite as strong as I thought. Maybe just enough to shift the balance though.

It certainly didn't hurt that the hard core Qultists were telling each other to boycott the runoff.

I was hoping for a direct split in the GOP. That may still happen, but the Georgia turnout suggests otherwise.

The whole conceit here is that Trump can drive the rural base out enough to overcome the steady erosion in the suburbs the GOP has incurred with their enthusiastic endorsement of his bullshit. He could not for his own election and most certainly could not for the runoffs.

If you're an R Senator up in 2022 and you're going to need a decent suburban vote to win how much are you loving the prospect of Trump running around saying crazy shit and reminding those voters which party he's with?

Thank fucking god McConnell no longer controls the senate. Biggest cancer we have seen in DC since Gingrich. Now time for Breyer to retire and for Schumer to start racing through judicial confirmations.

To dream the impossible dream:

Trump and his supporters follow through with their Patriot Party threat and split from the GOP.

Happy news, but I don't think the cultists week go away. They will double down on crazy and this will only get worse as the middle leaves the party.

Unfortunately, structural electoral advantages mean the GOP is not really punished at the polls and them taking back power is just a midterm away.

Seriously, how much is fucked up right now and it's a bare D win.

Destroyed economy.
High unemployment
3T/yr deficit
Hundreds of thousands dead from rampaging virus
Bungled govt response, vaccines piling up in warehousing while hospitals are overflowing

And that's just the last few months.
How much worse do you need Rs to fuck up to best a tie in the Senate?
