Uhhh.... Dems wanted to pass a 3.2T stimulus that was the epitome of "trickle down" economics. Where did you get off thinking Wall Street doesn't like Biden and having a senate to pass $3.2T corporate welfare packages?
Maybe you should use the internet and read up on how trickle down economics works. Hint: It doesn't involve the government spending tax dollars. If you want to call that plan a massive "socialist payout" or "welfare" you might be closer to being on target. But at least it is putting money directly into the hands of Americans versus giving it to the wealthy and corporations in the hopes that the plebs get some cash as it works its way through the economy.

The EU put sanctions on Poland and Hungary when they step out of democratic line.. Cant you do the same?

Though the EU has really struggled with that because the rules are full of holes. Given how much those countries (especially Poland) consume EU subsidies it's quite ridiculous they've been able to get away with it as much as they have. One problem is that because there are two of them they cover for each other and block action against the other.

But absolutely, one of my doubts about the EU is the extent to which, in its desperation to unify disparate countries, it risks building in flaws in a similar fashion to how the US did. Pro-EU commentators who point at the US as an example of a 'successful union' are undermining their own arguments, as far as I'm concerned. Who wants to end up with a Trump?

Not gonna happen with Biden preaching about a return to normal. Biden barely spoke about the Presidents most recent fuck up err....perfect call.
That's the difference between 45 and the rest. It's not the President's job to get involved in many things 45 did. You make the nominations and let the people you chose do their jobs. An effective AG and USAs will take care of many of these problems if the President doesn't interfere with or threaten to fire them.

That doesn't *necessarily* mean anything. Even if he wants to see the Trump Crime Family prosecuted, he's going to want to make sure that he does everything he can to avoid the prosecutions seeming to be politically motivated. He pretty much *has* to take a hands-off, let the DoJ and the states come to their own conclusions approach.

It’s really too bad for Trump that he isn’t a dictator. I mean, Trump must be thinking PUTIN DOESN’T HAVE TO GO THRU THIS CRAP. Putin can lose and he still wins. Doesn’t have to give speeches or spend the money on silly red hats.

100% agree with you. We need to cap Viktor first, then concentrate on Poland afterwards. I am confident it will get done in the coming years after covid.

Though if he were in Putin's position he'd still be staging those rallies. He needs that narcissistic supply. The most 'upvote' hungry social-media obsessive has nothing on Trump when it comes to needing adulation.

You uhh.... you do realize that sending people measly $1200 checks and unemployment benefits isn't the bulk of whats in that $3.2T, right?

Unemployment benefits is also a giant bureaucracy - where plenty are rejected and told they don't qualify.

It's corporate welfare silly child.

If you support corporate welfare, then good for you. If you don't, make sure you rant at AOC, Warren, and Sanders cuz that makes sense.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it off to jail Trump goes...

The President does not dictate law enforcement across the nation. It's also politically wiser to let a State handle it. Joe doesn't have to say or do anything.

And normal is how we got to Trump

The Reagan Revolution and Clinton's centrist pull is how we "got to Trump" in that context.
Workers feel abandoned to the Wolves. Might as well be a Wolf.
It would be correct to think a "radical" push forward is necessary to recapture the lost voting bloc.

However, we also live in a dangerous time where social media fuels alt-realities and unthinking conspiracies. There is a growing segment that is religiously indoctrinated to the other side and they cannot be reached. We must beware as we try to navigate these treacherous waters. There is precious little room for nuance and diplomacy in a time of beliefs and reactionaries.

Biden said he doesn't want to be involved with investigations in the previous administration. That doesn't mean a US Attorney General and FBI won't be.

He said he wants an independent DoJ. It's easy. Just sit back & let them do their job.

Actually, I got derailed. My point is that there isn't "trickle down" stuff in there. I edited out a lot of the fluff, but here it is:

What the bill contains
Congress has already passed close to $3 trillion in the past couple of months as part of its coronavirus relief efforts — and this latest House package ultimately weighs in at over $3 trillion itself.

While far from a final bipartisan bill negotiated with the Senate, it’s a recognition that there’s no immediate end in sight for Covid-19, or the havoc it’s wreaking on the country. Here are some of the big pieces of the House bill:

Money for state and local governments
Additional stimulus checks
More funding for testing and coronavirus tracing
An extension of expanded unemployment insurance
More money for small businesses
Support for SNAP benefits
Money for elections and vote-by-mail
Funding for the US Postal Service
COBRA subsidies

SALT tax deductions

So much for @ponyo anticipating a market dive today. If we close here the S&P500 will close at an all time high.

lol. When did I anticipate market dive today? I don't typically day trade. I'm an investor, and I invest in the strength of the US economy. Always have and always will.
