Gainward GF3 + DVI

You may run into some NVIDIA cards with a DVI connector that simply won't work with a DVI display plugged in. We conducted an informal test of a few of the DVI equipped cards we had in the lab and although all of the newer Titanium cards worked just fine, the Gainward GeForce3 would not work nor would NVIDIA's Reference GeForce2 MX.

Anyone tried DVI with the original Gainward GF3? I don't want to buy a panel for mine if it's not going to work.

Hi,

I have a gainward geforce3 powerpack vivo and I can't get my dvi to work. I even had a friend put it in his computer and he couldn't get it to work either. My ati radeon ve works with dvi and flat panel without a problem. Go to the articles feedback forum. I posted a question about it and the anandtech editor said their card and my card not working is only a sample of 2 cards so who knows? I have not been able to get any responses either when I asked the same question you asked so it seems like no one is using dvi with the gainward.

Isn't there two types of DVI connectors? A DVI-D and DVI-I? My Dell flat panel manual states it requires a DVI-D connecter.

I managed to borrow a Dell 1024x768 DVI panel this morning and can confirm that my Gainward GF3 DVI works at 1024x768x32 at least. Curious that some should operate and others not.

i have the gainward gf3 dvi (golden sample if that makes a difference) and the DVI is amazing. better than the 8500 i had.
