Has anyone had a problem installing a MS Sidewinder Pro on the SB Live?

When looking at the control panel game port, it shows the Sidewinder, but says it is Not Connected!

Something related... when I boot up the screen that shows all the devices and interrupts shows Input Device IRQ as NA or NR.. cant remember.

I went into the BIOS and saw that PNP OS was set to NO. Changed this and then I got NA on my NIC Device as well... but NIC is working.

Please Help... I am thinking I have a bad SBLive Gameport...

It's probably not the SBLive. MS Sidewinder stuff has been having lots of problems with the 'Not Connected' message with all different cards. Problems posted many places on the internet.

See if this helps you.

Last night I tried practically all the suggestion MS fixes.

The only thing that did work was configuring it to an analog device and setting it up as a CH Stick....can't remember the exact name.

Does anyone have a recommendation of a good replacement for my Sidewinder?

I'm having problems with my live! card as well, with basic joypads that connect to the gameport. The joypads are getting power OK, as the LCD screen on it works fine (PC Trident pad), but it comes up as not connected, even though it is. All drivers are loaded, no conflicts etc. Can't seem to get around this problem.

If your bus is faster than 100Mz, this may be the problem. MS has something on their website that says the Sidewinder Precision Pro, maybe others, has a problem running on bus speeds of 100Mhz or higher.

MS states to install the new directx 7.0a and they also have a new VXD file that they same, in some cases has resolved the problem.

I just bought a new joystick. Logitech 3D Force, not bad. Not sure if I like the force feedback. I wonder if the non-force stick centers automatically. The force stick is loose and only centers when it sense someone is holding it...

Good Luck
