Ok here's the story people, Xbox is nice but it's out of the question. Everyone is putting Xbox vs. PS2 or Xbox vs. Gamecube. Well let's see what would you want Ps2 or the Gamecube? I'm considering these 2 systems now, the gamecube @ $200 and the Ps2 @ $300 or @$250 used. The one thing that is getting me with Gamecube is the price, and the fun factor of the games now and upcoming. The Ps2 is convincing because of the games that are out now, GTA3, GT-aspec, etc, also the Ps2 can be modded. I don't have the money to get both or i would. But what do you guys think? GC or PS2? Please stay on topic!

I have a PS2 but was so ready to buy a GameCube as well until I saw what they did to Zelda.... it's a shame...

I have both and I love em both but the GC has the edge. The PS2 has some really good games but the graphics aren't as strong as the GC and even though the games for the GC aren't as serious my friends play it most when they come over. The games are just ridiculously fun.

I like the $200 pricetag of the Gamecube. Also, the games that usually come out for Nintendo systems are very fun to play with friends. Playing games with friends is why, in my opinion, consoles have their place. If you could only play by yourself, I would never even consider a console system in addition to my PC. Hell, I still play Mario Kart 64 and Goldeneye for Nintendo 64 with my friends. PS2 is nice because of it's already existing library of games. however, I have high hopes for the GC. The extremely tiny size of the Gamecube is a nice plus as well. =)

i've played both and i've gotta say that the GC is much better for multiplayer and ps2 for single player. depending on which you do more often that could help you decide. i have a PS2 because GT3, GTA3, MGS2, and FFX are some of the best games i've played in a long time and i tend to do a lot more single player games so GC's library isnt as appealing to me

Soul Calibur 2 for the Game Cube... need I say more?

And let's not forget how sweet Smash Bros. Melee is, and what about a new Mario Kart.
Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin, SSX Tricky (Yeah, I know its on all the systems)... the list goes on. I am going to get the GC about a week from now, then the X-Box and the PS2 in a year or so.

W/ the variety of games out there at the moment, I would have to say go w/ the PS2, I faced this 3-way question myself about a month ago and the games that were available for the PS2 were the deciding factor for me. BTW, if you do go w/ a PS2, pick up MSG2, when I'm not on my rig, that's what I'm currently playing, great game. Hope this helps.

Personally, I'd go for the PS2 but thats because I love many the games available for it.

I have PS2, and my friend has a GC. I would say GC can produce better graphic than PS2 since it is almost 2 years newer than PS2. But in term of game, I think GC is for younger people, even the design of the joypad is not for people with big hands. Yes, the PS2 cost more, but it plays DVD. I think you should pick the hardware depend on the games you like.

its really a tough question to ask...ps2 has some great games, but i also really like the games that nintendo has put out in the past.....the $100 less pricetag on teh gamecube would be my deciding factor....so i guess i would go with the cube...btw, i have an xbox, so this is a pretty much unbiased decision

If you want a good selection of games and dvd available now, get a PS2. If you want better graphics and "potential" get a Gamecube.
