I think that is it as well in some cases. The game is so intensive it is exposing unstable system overclocks.
That is really likely. Its not uncommon to see guys with crazy high overclocks with voltages that just look too low for what they have and more to the point insufficient cooling to sustain that on all the cores. Up to now that hasn't mattered much, the CPUs weren't going to crash or overheat because there just wasn't enough load on them from the average game that only used 2 cores. Now we have 6-8 cores being used heavily the CPUs are getting hotter and failing as a result.
Since my disc hasn't arrived yet I can't confirm or otherwise if the game is actually stable or not but most games show about 1% of their population has crashing directly related to their overclocks, there are a lot of unstable machines out there.
