Games appear "dark" on GeForce DDR

For some reason, most of the games i play lately (Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Serious Sam...) appear dark even though the brightness in the game has been turned all the way up.

On my friends computers computers, the games look fine.

If anybody else has this problem i would like to know about it, and if you have a solution also!

I am running WinXP on a
1.4GHz Athlon
Epox 8k7a
Creative GeForce DDR
etc ...

does anybody have any suggestions?

I doubt it's my monitor (a CRT) cause all my 2D environments seem to be fine, but when i lauch a game ... i'm in the dark!

Sounds like your overlay Gamma or brightness is set too low. That would explain why normal desktop, programs, etc. look okay. Check some of the control panels, etc. to find the overlay settings.

Is it dark on other things that use overlay like DVD, Media files, etc.?

My video files (.mpg, .avi etc..) as well as my tvtuner show up fine, so i don't think it is an overlay problem. but i'll check it out anyways and see what happens when i 'tweak' it.

Is there any option in the nvidia drivers to adjust gamma for only open_gl or only for directx? (similar to the overlay adjustment capability)
