Gaming monitor suggestions

Anyone have any suggestions for a decent gaming (and sometimes video) monitor. The prices seem all over the board on this. I'm using an Asus GTX760 video card and an Intel i5-4590 processor. Under $200 would be the best.

What I think of as a dedicated "gaming" monitor would be a high refresh rate monitor like the ASUS VG248QE for $270 or BenQ XL2411Z for $255. Those are both over $200 though (obviously).

There are definitely plenty of good monitors that you can use for gaming that cost less that $200 though. This LG 24MP55HQ-P IPS monitor for $144 AP is a good all-around choice.

More important than what your hardware is would be the type of gaming you'd use your rig for.

Skyrim and Unity will probably be the first. I'll add others later, maybe some rts games. I used to like those but haven't played them much since I went to Xbox. Not really a fan of tunnel-game shooters.

If you have little more budget then get ASUS VG248QE.

1ms @ 144Hz is nice but on a 24" monitor it can be strainful for your elderly folk
