Ok, so I just upgraded my gaming PC to a 2500K and I have a left over Q6600, motherboard, and 8GB of DDR2 memory.
My brother wants a computer to play Diablo 3 and Civ 5 and any other future games he may play. I'd consider him a casual gamer.
My dilemma is whether I build him a PC based off my discarded Q6600, or I sell the Q6600 and ram (the motherboard is probably not worth much) and then buy another cheap system with the cash. $50 here and there won't make much difference, but I feel like giving him a S775 system now is dooming him for the future.
Some options are to get an H67 board for $60 and an i3 for $99, get the $100 FX4200 plus free board deal at microcenter, or another cheap deal I could find with upgrade potential.
The case HD and graphics card will be bought new. Should I just give him the quad core and ram, or go dual core with upgrade potential?
