Gaming recording software

Can anyone recommend a gaming recording software that doesn't chop your fps in half? ... or a way to not get your fps chopped in half?

I have tried Fraps,Open Broadcaster, Bandicam and Playclaw, all chopped my fps in half. Dxtory is AMAZING no fps loss but..... it's not compatible with ENB, the game just crashes, MSI Afterburner is also not compatible with ENB.

BTW I record to RAMdisk to eliminate possible writing speed bottleneck.

What does "chopped my fps in half" mean? Your fps inside the game is halved or what?

Yes, from 60fps to 27~34, recording at 1080p.

I5 3570k @ 4.5 GHz / GTX 660 Ti 3GB SLI / ASUS P8Z77-V / 8GB RAM / 1TB HDD / Win7 64-bit

almost all fraps guides recommend an empty drive dedicated to recording, i suppose this applies to most other software, i use OBS to broadcast with close to no performance hit on an i7 720q with 8gb of ram and a 5870m, this data is not being written to a disk, just uploaded on the fly

Well I tried OBS and recorded to an empty RAMdisk, where the writing speed is over 7000MB/s and I still got 30 fps drop :S what are your settings?

I think you just underestimate how taxing it is to record. I'm running an i5 at 3.4 GHz and I would never attempt to record any modern video game at 1080p/60fps. I can do modern games on low settings at 720p/30fps and get 60+ fps just fine and obviously my specs aren't as powerful as yours, but I'm pretty dang sure OBS is a very low taxing option for this kind of thing.

Also: obs thread for local recording settings

Well... I tried OBS, I got drop in fps just like the famous Fraps... however I get no fps drop with Dxtory and very little fps drop with Action! so, it's definitely possible to record without lowering settings, it's just a shame that these 2 don't work with ENBseries.

I don't know what ENB is, but i use fraps to record Battlefield 4 beta on same SSD drive i play on and don't get low fps. Just put FPS cap at 30fps you won't notice when watching.

I've only used FRAPS, but it includes a frame limiting option that will always drop you to 30 FPS to match the framerate of the video. Are you using that option?

EDIT:

It's been awhile since I recorded, so I checked out an old WoW video that I made. It looks like I was using the frame limiting option in it as I saw me take an immediate drop from 90 FPS at the beginning of the video to 60 FPS once the encounter started.

Well that's a problem, because I want to enjoy my game at 60 fps while recording at 29.97 fps for Youtube.

Yeah... your talking about the "Lock Framerate While Recording" option, I always have it unchecked, however, I did try recording at 60 fps and locking the fps in hopes that it would lock at 60 fps but no, still 30 fps.

Keep in mind that I can record at 29.97fps while having 60 fps ingame with Dxtory, but, what would you suggest I upgrade?

I have actually looked into that product, there are some bugs with it, and it's limited to 1080p 30fps witch I think it sucks for a dedicated capture card and the price.

You see... all would be good if Dxtory would work with ENB but, it doesn't, and that's why I'm trying to find a fix or workaround.

You have Ivy Bridge. Use OBS with Quick Sync as your encoder. It can be a pain to setup, but it will allow you to record locally with absolutely minimal FPS loss.

It involves enabling your iGPU in BIOS and adding a headless vga display to your PC, the checking "use quick sync" in OBS and ramping up your target bitrate.

Google and the OBS forums have more information, or if you need specific help I could walk you through the steps, perhaps via PM.
