Jokes aside, I would be curious to see a CPU gaming performance review on SteamOS. High end X3D vs. 285K would be nice, but a few value CPUs thrown into the mix would be mighty welcome as well.

No NPU on AMD means you don't have to worry about MS "accidentally" turning on Recall.

Do we already know it's not possible to turn off via group policy? I mean to make NPU, no NPU a real argument?

I noticed that in the video that was post at the top of this thread that it show that the 9950X3D is faster in FS2020 than the 285K, at least it the scenario it was benchmarking in FS2020. However, are there situations in FS2020 that raw CPU IPC performance is more important and the 3D VCache won't play a significant role and will be in the 285K's favor due to the higher IPC of the 285K? Perhaps a scenario with complex 3rd party aircraft in a busy airport with very dense 3rd party AI traffic at 1080p or 1440p resolution? Would 3D VCache still play a significant role in that kind of scenario in FS2020?

In many tests the 285k does win a lot of single thread tests, but none measure avx-512 capability. This leaves AMD the clear winner IMO.

You do realize that IPC stands for Instruction Per Clock and the whole point of SIMD is to do more work while retiring less instructions, in other words a CPU with AVX512 can have lower IPC and do as much work if not more (compare Zen3 and Zen4 and AVX2 vs AVX512).

Of course everybody started to use IPC as stand in for Performance Per Clock but well it is, what it is.

Now, AVX512 is not useful for programs not amnedable to SIMD so no, Zen5 is not a clear winner just because it has AVX512.

It's a winner in many cases (AVX and non-AVX) that's why Intel has had to slash their CPU prices. Nearly everyone has seen a benchmark or two that they care about and Ryzen sweeps the floor in it, with Arrow Lake coughing up the blown up dust

AMD is better in SPEC 2017 and CB2024 shows that Intel is better is MEANINGLESS as it only tests Ray tracing.

A balanced architecture does well in both.

Because they can upgrade to ARL refresh . To be fair ARL does a few things well. Again, Handbrake comes to mind. But there are too many downsides for it to be a real option IMHO.

Wow. In music production, the 285K wasn't able to do even 50 tracks coz the E-cores weren't getting loaded. That was so enlightening, @DAPUNISHER!

9950X3D could do 60 tracks easily without any sound breaking.

YES bro these are true real world benchmarks

how much beef the machine can carry swiftly before it starts to break down / stutter / lag / freeze was always the #1 real world performance indicator at least for me and those results usually reflected on the true longevity of a machine

ive had it with cinnebench accelerators 😤
