Did you do a search for "gas" before posting this?

Don't like it, drive less.
you are an ass.

Why? You asked if anyone else felt it and there are numerous threads about the exact same subject.

What was missing from my statement? Driving is a privilege not a right.

So if can't afford to drive to work, don't work???

I don't know if they were record profits but they have all posted profits so far. Up from last year.

Gas is $3.03 here (or it was last night). I keep reading about inventories being higher than last year but gas is still going up. I guess the Govt. gave up the whole investigation into the price gauging.

I for one am not going out unless I have to. Travel to work and that's it. Maybe once a week to a restaurant. It certainly won't help anything but I'd love to see more people driving less.

P.S.
I hate BS like this:
work closer
live closer
work longer fewer days a week
telecommute
ride a scooter
bike
carpool

Not always an option for people. Some people could do maybe one of those things.

And when people bring up other countries. They pay what they pay, we pay what we pay, our gas has increased in price quite rapidly over a few years. I'm sure those countries would love it if gas prices went up 100% in a few years.

Up here in Victoria it's up to 1.225 per litre, which is something like $3.80USD per gallon. So keep down the complaining

4-28-2007 Chevron 1st Qtr profit surges 18% pumped up by fuel prices

Chevron Corp. on Friday became the latest oil company to report a first-quarter profit spurt from the high gasoline prices that have plagued motorists for months.

So far, Exxon Mobil Corp., Valero Energy Corp., BP and ConocoPhillips have posted big gains from the production and sale of fuel during the first three months of 2007. Royal Dutch Shell and Tesoro Corp. will report their results next week.

All of those companies have large refinery operations in California, where average pump prices crossed the $3-per-gallon mark seven weeks ago and are poised to surpass the record average of $3.332 a gallon set last May.

Earlier this week, a Shell station in West Los Angeles raised the price for self-serve regular 14 cents a gallon overnight to $3.89.

The results were boosted by refinery income that rose sharply despite an extended outage at Chevron's facility in Richmond, Calif.

I feel it too. I drive an hour each way to work. Drive less? I guess in Clocker's distorted view I should quit my job to conserve fuel.

How bout the difference between Traitors and Terrists?

Chevron's stock price has increased by more than 80 percent over the same period, creating about $75 billion in shareholder wealth.

This statement struck me this morning.

Any American doing business with these Companies I consider TRAITORS.

Why should they be rewarded for not only the Refinery incompetence but for importing Terrist Country Oil to begin with???

What happened to not doing business with Terrists?

You buy gas and you don't even know how much you're paying per gallon?

I stopped caring since it went above 2 dollar a gallon, I just stick my credit card into the pump and fill it up, don't even look at the receipt anymore.

exactly what I do.

Although ill start looking when it hits 3.50.. Thats why i buy a motorcycle

Why be punished for making money? You are really stretching with this one. Their job is to return a profit to their shareholders.

You do realize they are involved in many more businesses besides just oil? There are other ways to turn a profit.

How long until the work "shill" comes flying out?

What do you expect with RECORD DEMAND?

Maybe if we made more refineries to help the demand.

Increased demand and limited manufacturing ability--yeah its Exxon's fault they have their hands tied in manufacturing and people demand more gas

Government has a sweet deal: They don't have to do a damn thing to make the gas but get a nice chunk and are never scrutized when gas prices go up. Funny how no one blames government for pincing our wallets when gas prices go up.

How is it record demand? I fail at how that is. I am sure once it went over $2 a lot of people, especially the poor have changed their driving habits, I sure the hell did, I go no where, are you really saying that now thats its over $3, more people can afford to drive more then ever before, and there is now a record demand for the stuff. BS BS BS. Less people are driving, more people are driving better economy cars, and your throwing its going to cost you $4 a gallon because there is a record demand for gas. Fvck you gas oil people, record demand for money in your god damn pocket is what it is. Less people are driving so now you got to go hike up the prices even more to make up for the ones who are not driving as much as they used to.
