Discussion Gas stove hob working intermittently

Hi All
Attached photos showing our gas stove hop and as long as I am pressing on knob no issue once I remove my hand it stops
I guess it is not an igniter issue as it worked initially ,,,,gas nozzle (jet) is clean

in the 2nd image, that tapered item on the upper right is the thermocouple. The flame has to play on that when you push in on the knob and light it. You hold the knot till that heats up, and then it will hold the gas valve open for unattended operation.
Perhaps your foil job is interfering with heating up the thermocouple, or perhaps it has gone bad.

Normally I practice it this way

I guess you might be right ,,,,,I am thinking to clean it to see how it goes ? Any advice how to clean it ,,,,yes tooth brush with what type of solvent ?

Assuming it is defective cleaning it won't help.

If it isn't bad you can try a cleaner. Easy Off should work if you give it enough time to break down the grime. Just give it time to dry out. If that doesn't work, NutBucket is likely right. Have you tried turning it on without the foil?

Yes no joy

Easy Off should work if you give it enough time to break down the grime.

Will try that and see how it goes
