Gay adoption

Do you feel gay couples should be allowed to adopt children?

While I don't feel all that strongly one way or the other, I don't feel like there's any reason against gays being able to raise children.

Despite being raised by both my parents my whole life and even though I don't think I'd be the same person I am today without both of them..I believe it was above all else the attention and love given by the two that was the most important.

why on earth not? TONS of kids being screwed over by the foster care system because theres no way you can grow up normally without real parents.

a couple wants to adopt, let em! so, so much better than the alternative.

But then you could also say the best family unit consists of biological mother and biological father and forbid adoption completely. Perfect should not be the enemy of good.

As LtPage1 has already pointed out. It's better to have gay parents adopt you (If the person being adopted agrees with it of course) than to rot away in foster care for 18 years.

So, yes. I feel gay couples should be allowed to adopt.

Allowing gays to adopt children would turn it into a diesease. Those children would pick up the traits from there 'parents'.. possibly turning the kids gay.

I feel they should be allowed to adopt but in this day and age I don't think it would be accepted. Just imagine how the child would grow up, being ridiculed and mentally damaged because society isn't ready to accept it yet. I think they should be able to adopt but if they care about the child's mental well being, they shouldn't.

Ah, the good ol "Don't be around gay people or you will become gay yourself" claim.

Sorry to break it to you. But being around or being raised by gays doesn't turn you gay. As much as some people would like to claim it does.

Please post some psychological evidence(or fact) that states a person cannot become gay because of society or people they have day to day contact with. If humans where ment to be gay, we would be able to reproduce that way.

This is such a stupid argument by the way. Plenty of animal species have documented cases of gay animals, so this behavoir does occur in nature. You can argue its actually a positive development for humanity today since the world is facing such population pressures.

Animals can just be horny. My dog tries humping peoples legs all the time.

I agree with what you say about the population though. But every child should have the oportunity to have a 'normal' childhood.

Define 'normal'. I've seen kids being raised by straight parents have the most 'abnormal' childhood possible. Just because the kid is being raised by straight parents doesn't mean he or she will have any more chance of having a 'normal' upbringing, than if they were being raised by gay parents. It all depends on what kind of people the parents are. Some parents suck, some don't. The parents being gay has very little to do with it really.

The studies on children raised by gay parents show that on average the children aren't more likely to identify as gay (when they reach teenage and early adult years) than children raised by a opposite-sex parents.

A few years ago they did an episode of 20/20 about kids being raised by gay parents. All the kids turned out normal and none of them were gay. I think the one boy raised by lesbian parents was actually really good with women.

as long as neither one of them is Michael Jackson, I say go ahead

no family is perfect, but being raised by two lesbians who love and care for their child is certainly better than making the kid suffer away in foster case.
