I've ordered from SVC about every other week for the last 8 months. They always ship the next day, and i receive what i order and great prices. What's going down about them??

I've used 4 of those HS/fan combos from SVC and really like them. Super quiet and good cooling.
I've noticed the big increase in complaints against SVC over at resellerratings and hope it's a temporary thing, cuz I need to order some more goodies from SVC.

omg, read the reseller and personal complaints about SVC over the last 3-4 weeks. I personally put in an order for GC68 and Floppy drive on like 9/16, didn't ship until 10/1 and 8 phone calls, 3 eMails and a lot of whinning. I have ordered from them 10+ times and they will never get another order from me, ever again.

Good alternative to SVC which recently sent me 4 of 5 rounded cables ordered... 2 e-mails no response. 2 calls, no answer. I hope they sent it with the most recent order per my request on e-mail. *shrug*

Nexfan has Them also for $5.99

I bought a couple of these for my Dual Duron System, I swapped the fans with Panaflo L1s. They are silent now and cool realy well. You have to lap them thought the surface on mine was really rough. After a 320/600/1500 lap and some ASIII they are cool as can be. Worth every bit of $5.99.

Heard that the main guy there left to get a degree, and last time i was there they were under remodeling. Luckily, i can go to svc to get my stuff locally.

What're people cooling with these things? The last rating I saw for this cooler stated that it topped out at the 1600+ chips (no o/c).

I have it on my 1800+ (not overclocked) and my cpu averages 38c idle, and around 44-45c under full load/games.

Anything an OEM cooler can do, GC68 can do better.

If you see an xp2000+ and beyond with a 60mm buzzer, you'd be better off slapping on one of these.

The GC68 is all about air flow. The faster the fan, the better it does (moreso than for most other designs). I've seen a review of 12 different colors or so (with some fan-swapping going on), and only the AX7 (most any fan) beat the GC68 with the 52-60cfm 80mm fan (name escapes me).. and then not by much, even with the same fan.

Do I need to get a shim? I have never used one, does this cooler require it?

btw on the fan, if you look at gizzo's fan page and compare 60mm to 80mm fans the 60's need to spin a lot more rpm's to move the same cfm of air.

I have a stock GC68 on my XP1800+ and it idles at 60C in the BIOS. I have ordered a faster fan and we will see what happens.

I wish this could fit on my BP6 but those caps have me worried.

I have a copper cooler too Im going to try to put a fan adapter on 60-80 and see if its any better. otherwise I will just stick with the GC and the bigger fan if it gets me down to ~10 over case. Currently im 30C over case...no load.

I put quiet fans in my old PSUs too. much quieter than the antec I am about to put back on ebay...

I currently have a GC68 w/28-52cfm 80mm blue LED clear fan I bought with it on my 1600+@1.775v@1.75ghz and it's max load temp is about 62c on my 8K3A and runs 24/7 crunching SETI rock solid, btw the 8K3A reads right from the XP's on-die temp diode so it's extremely acurrate, on most other boards with socket thermistors it would probably be low 50'sc that's with a case temp of 33c and ASII and since the CPU is rated to 90+c it's well within the safe zone. Another point to be made is the GC68 from SVC comes mirror polished and you couldn't hope to lap it better.

I placed an order with svc 2 weeks ago and still have not gotten a thang. 9/23/02. Shipping was fine, but I want the hs/f I ordered. I will try and find a phone number to inquire.

Have about 5 or 6 of the GC68's here

The last two were a little rough...so with a few grades of sandpaper and polishing compound, a nice new mirror finish was added. Currently just added two to a couple of XP2000's with the thermal controlled fan (clear with LED's 1500-4000 RPM) and the temp stays around 48 to 52C FULL LOAD running SETI 24/7. This is with Artic Silver 3 and using two case fans + PS fan.

Good Luck all....

Well, I am a big fan of the GC68s. I have been putting them in computers for a while (up to XP 1800s) with no trouble. Best of all they are wicked quiet. Unfortunatley, the last batch I ordered were much rougher than usual. Certainly usable, but I am going to have to lap them to feel OK about putting them in a box.

As far as SVC, they have always done well by me. Which reminds me- I should put a good word in for them at resellers- sounds like they could use it!
